Glamping is camping without the hard parts: a real bed, a roof that does not leak and often heat or air conditioning, with the campfire and the night sounds still included. In Georgia you can glamp in a state park yurt above Cloudland Canyon, a lakeside yurt at Stone Mountain, or a furnished safari tent on Lake Lanier or at Amicalola Falls. Here is what each kind of glamping includes, where to find it and how to choose. We checked the details on October 21, 2026.

Georgia State Park Yurts
Georgia State Parks calls its yurts glamping, and they are the best value in the state. Each one has a deck, picnic table, grill and fire ring outside; inside are furniture for up to six people (four at Red Top Mountain and Skidaway Island), a ceiling fan, a small heater, screened windows and electrical outlets. There is no plumbing or kitchen, and cooking is not allowed inside; a bathhouse with hot showers is a short walk away. Pets are not allowed in or around yurts except Yurt #1 at Fort Yargo and Yurt #1 at Skidaway Island.
Cloudland Canyon
10 yurts on the edge of Lookout Mountain, with air conditioning and 64 miles of trails. The most scenic yurts in the system.
Tugaloo
6 yurts on a peninsula in Lake Hartwell, with air conditioning and water views.
Skidaway Island
Yurts with air conditioning near Savannah, and the only state park yurts that come with linens.
Red Top Mountain
Air-conditioned yurt camping on Lake Allatoona, about 50 minutes north of Atlanta.
Fort Yargo
Air-conditioned yurts on a 260-acre lake near Winder, including Yurt #1, which allows dogs.
High Falls, Indian Springs and Sweetwater Creek
Yurts within about an hour of Atlanta. High Falls has air conditioning; Sweetwater Creek is the closest to the city.
Full details on cottages and other unusual stays are in our Georgia state park cabins, cottages and yurts guide. Remember the $10 ParkPass, which is paid once per stay.
Safari Tents and Bell Tents
Private operators set up furnished canvas tents inside public parks and campgrounds, so you get the setting of a state park or lake with a made bed waiting. In 2026 the largest, Timberline Glamping, lists Georgia sites at:
Amicalola Falls State Park
Tents in the park with Georgia’s tallest waterfall, near the start of the Appalachian Trail approach.
Unicoi State Park
Tents just northeast of Helen, near the lake, the bike trails and Anna Ruby Falls.
Lake Lanier: Shady Grove and River Forks
Two lakeside campgrounds, one near Cumming in Forsyth County and one about four miles from downtown Gainesville.
Clarks Hill Lake and Lake Blackshear
Lakeside sites on the South Carolina line near Augusta and near Georgia Veterans State Park in south Georgia.
What is included varies by site and tent, so read each listing for bed size, linens, heat and air, and how far the bathrooms are. These tents are booked through the operator, not the state park reservation line.
More Ways to Glamp
Stone Mountain Park yurts
Wood-and-canvas yurts in the park campground, each with a back deck over the lake, log furniture, heat and air. Bathrooms are in nearby facilities, pets are not allowed in yurts and stays are limited to seven nights.
Squirrel’s Nest at Unicoi
Covered camping platforms in the woods: you still bring a tent and gear, but you sleep off the ground under a roof.
Tent cabin at Mistletoe
A four-bed tent cabin with electricity and water facing Clarks Hill Lake.
Len Foote Hike Inn
Not a tent, but the same idea: a backcountry inn with bunkrooms and hot meals, reached only by a 5-mile hike.

Glamping Tips
Seasons
Spring and fall are the most comfortable. In summer, pick a yurt or tent with air conditioning; in winter, check that heat is included and pack warm layers.
Bring a flashlight
Bathhouses are a short walk away, and paths are dark at night.
Cook outside
Use the grill or fire ring; cooking is not allowed inside state park yurts. Check for local burn bans in dry weather.
Book early
Yurts and tents are limited, and fall weekends sell out months ahead.
