In the early 1800s, this site was a prosperous industrial town with stores, a grist mill, cotton gin, blacksmith shop, shoe factory and hotel. High Falls became a ghost town in the 1880s when a major railroad bypassed it. Today, visitors can enjoy the scenic waterfall on the Towaliga River and hike to the remaining grist mill foundation, plus a campground, picnic areas and canoe rental.

Camping & Yurts
River Campground
50-foot sites hold 1 tent, 2 tents, a pop-up trailer, or a trailer/motorhome up to 50 feet. Water, 30-amp minimum electric, picnic table, grill and fire ring. No cable hookups. Comfort station with washer/dryer. Maximum 6 people and 2 vehicles per site.
Lake Campground
25-foot sites hold 1 tent, 2 tents, a pop-up trailer, or a trailer/motorhome up to 25 feet. Water, 30-amp minimum electric, picnic table, grill and fire ring. No cable hookups. Comfort station with washer/dryer. Maximum 6 people and 2 vehicles per site.
Pioneer Campsite
A primitive, rugged site for groups only, 10-person minimum, located by itself. Has water and electricity, but no privy toilets or bathrooms specific to the site – a comfort station is about ¼ mile away.
Yurt
Located on the lake and shaded. A 20-foot diameter, 12-foot high circular tent with lattice wall support, insulation, a clear dome skylight, finished pine floor, electricity, water, heat, ceiling fan and lockable doors. Rear deck; furnished to sleep 6. Linens, blankets & utensils not provided. No additional tents or campers in the yurt area, no smoking, no pets.

All visitors are required to have a ParkPass.
Group Shelter
Enclosed shelter with attached restrooms, central heat and air conditioning, and a large covered barbeque pit outside. Has a stove, oven, sink, refrigerator, and tables and chairs. Seats 125.
Picnic Shelter #1
Open-sided covered shelter near the playgrounds. Water, electricity, 4 picnic tables and a grill. Maximum 25 vehicles.
Picnic Shelter #2
Open-sided covered shelter near the lake edge and swimming pool, about 100 yards from parking with no vehicle access. Limited handicap accessibility, not well suited for elderly visitors. Water, electricity, 4 picnic tables and a grill. Maximum 25 vehicles.
Picnic Shelter #3
Open-sided covered shelter located by itself, about 100 yards from parking with no vehicle access, not well suited for elderly visitors. 4 picnic tables and a grill. Maximum 25 vehicles.
Picnic Shelter #4
Open-sided covered shelter near an ADA-accessible restroom. Very shady, ideally suited for elderly visitors. 4 picnic tables, grill, water and electricity. Maximum 25 vehicles.
Picnic Shelter #5
Open-sided covered shelter located by itself near the office. 4 picnic tables, trash cans, grill and electricity. Maximum 25 vehicles.
Reservations & Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made at least 3 days before arrival to receive a refund; a $10 cancellation/handling fee applies per reservation. Changing your arrival date less than 3 days before the scheduled arrival counts as a cancellation and forfeits the deposit.
7–14 Day Cottage Reservations: Cancellations 30+ days in advance receive a deposit refund minus the $10 cancellation fee. Cancelling less than 30 days but before 72 hours of arrival: request a refund in writing; if the cottage is rebooked for the original dates, you’ll receive a full refund minus the $10 fee. Cancelling within 72 hours of arrival forfeits the one-night deposit. Deposits are required for all reservations and are posted when the reservation is made.
Check-In/Check-Out: Check-in is between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m.; check-out is before 1 p.m. Campers must register and present a reservation confirmation before setting up. Not arriving on the first night of your stay counts as a no-show – your reservation is cancelled and the deposit forfeited.
Reservation Changes: One change is allowed at no charge with 3 days’ notice; additional changes incur a $10 per-reservation handling fee.
