Every March, Macon turns pink. The city counts an estimated 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees, and the International Cherry Blossom Festival fills ten days with a parade, concerts, food and family events while they bloom. The 2027 festival runs March 19 to 28. Here is what to expect and how to plan your visit.

What to Expect

The festival kicks off with an opening ceremony and runs for ten days. Past festivals have included a downtown parade, nightly concerts, lantern-light tours, a 5K, food trucks and a wiener dog race, with family activities at Carolyn Crayton Park. Much of what makes the week special is free: driving or walking through neighborhoods where the streets are lined with blooming trees. Check the official schedule at cherryblossom.com for 2027 events and tickets.

Tips for Visiting

Book a hotel early, since festival weekends fill Macon. Bloom timing depends on the weather, so a trip in the middle of the festival is the safest bet. Weekdays are less crowded than the two weekends. Wear pink; the whole city does.
