NPS - Fort Frederica National Monument
Dorchester Academy and Museum - Experience an African-American historic site that was founded as a school after the Civil War for freed slaves. The Midway Museum
Pierce County Heritage Museum, Genealogical Library and Depot is a restored 1902 train depot that now houses a Civil War museum, with county history and a genealogical library. Savannah History Museum housed in the old Central of Georgia Railway passenger shed. It is a National Historic Landmark built in the 1850s and 1860s. The railway used the building until 1972. In 1984, a historical attraction called The Great Savannah Exposition opened in the building. The museum is now home to more than 10,000 artifacts - the largest collection of artifacts in the entire coastal community. Savannah Ogeechee Canal Museum and Nature Center - The waterway moves through locks, including one at the Savannah River, to the Ogeechee River. Nature and history programs are available. St. Marys Submarine Museum - Surfacing in a converted historic movie theater on the St. Marys waterfront, the Museum is one attraction not to be missed! Get ready to see firsthand a working periscope, models of torpedoes, and many displays made from actual submarines. See a deep-sea diving suit and submarine uniforms, command plaques, photographs and models of submarines, an area for watching movies on submarines, working sonar panels, a history of submarines, a reading area, a reference area, gift shop and a display dedicated to the eight submariners who received the Medals of Honor. Christ Church, Frederica and St. Ignatius Chapel - In 1736, John and Charles Wesley held services under the oak trees at the location of the present church, erected in 1883 by Anson Phelps Dodge Jr. as a memorial to his first wife. Dungeness Ruins are stately homes from the 1700s were named for the castle of the Duke of Cumberland, King George II’s son. One is from the 1790s and was rebuilt by Carnegie in 1884. Faith Chapel is a 1904 wooden chapel that was built for quests of the famed Jekyll Island Club. It houses a rare stained-glass window signed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. First African Baptist Church in Savannah was founded in 1773. This church is believed to be the oldest continuously active African-American congregation in North America.
