Activities and General Info
Line Creek Nature Area is a 67 acre public preserve on Hwy 54 which borders Line Creek on the Coweta/ Fayette County line.
From the parking lot there’s easy access to a picnic area next to a fishing pond with a gazebo and pier. The Council Circle is great for birthday parties and Scout meetings. Just beyond the pond two trails offer a quick escape to nature.
To the right, the easy Ridge Trail leads you through a peaceful hardwood forest and then along the creek.
The Creek Trail to the left requires more sure footing, taking you down a slope and across granite outcroppings with unique xeric vegetation. Enjoy the native azaleas blooming in the spring. The reward is a scenic perch beside rushing Line Creek. Be careful— the rock can be slippery!
Adventurous hikers can follow the narrow trail south beside the creek which connects to a cart path and tot lot near Planterra Ridge. You will see the construction for Fayette County’s new reservoir Lake McIntosh.
Bike Trail: 5 miles of 70% singletrack and 30% doubletrack trails for advanced riders. This trail is an addition to an ongoing project by the good folks in Peachtree City (golfing community) south of Atlanta. It begins at the man made lake and rolls along the ridges and banks above Line Creek. Lots of roots, and rocks. Some slick rock into the creek (river) that you can ride on, but be careful of the wet, mossy spots. It ends with a mix of paved cart pats/road to get back to trail head.
