Celebrate Independence Day with family and friends. The City of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department will provide two free "inflatables" for children to play and jump on from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the lawn behind the Alpharetta Community Center. The Alpharetta City Band will perform a medley of patriotic favorites beginning at 6 p.m. on the lawn behind the Community Center. Serious Business, a local band, takes the stage from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to entertain the crowd with country and rock 'n' roll favorites. Join us "on rope" for an adventure exploring the canopy above. This is an introductory program to recreational tree climbing. Participants will use rope and harness to ascend into a 200+ year old Southern Red Oak, where they can climb, swing, and scramble. Climbs start at 1 PM and 3 PM. Must call to register. Ages 8 and up. Click title for details. This strenuous activity is well worth the effort. Climbers can choose how high they would like to go and even swing to and walk on branches 30= feet off the ground. Close-toed shoes and long pants recommended. Hair longer than shoulder length should be pulled back in a low ponytail. All equipment is provided. Arrive early to allow for walking time. Our Climbing tree, Naomi Ruth, is located across Lower Alexander Lake from the Alexander Lakes Parking Area and can be access easily by a short walk across the dam on the PATH Trail. once across, the second trail on the right, leading into the meadow, takes you to the Tree. Located in a hotel on a Civil War site, many dealers offer coins, currency, bullion and collectibles at the Greater Atlanta Coin Show one Sunday per month. Visitors can browse, buy, sell or trade at the show. The experienced dealers also offer free verbal appraisals for items brought to the show. Other collectibles are also on display, such as medals, Civil War artifacts, stock certificates, scrip from coal miners, jewelry and gemstones. All visitors are welcome to the coin show, including experienced collectors and investors, and those who are new to the hobby or just curious about the many items on display. Intro to Tree Climbing - 11/19/16 at 1-5pm
Join us "on rope" for an adventure exploring the canopy above. This is an introductory program to recreational tree climbing. Participants will use rope and harness to ascend into a 200+ year old Southern Red Oak, where they can climb, swing, and scramble. Climbs start at 1 PM and 3 PM. Must call to register. Ages 8 and up. Click title for details. This strenuous activity is well worth the effort. Climbers can choose how high they would like to go and even swing to and walk on branches 30= feet off the ground. Close-toed shoes and long pants recommended. Hair longer than shoulder length should be pulled back in a low ponytail. All equipment is provided. Arrive early to allow for walking time. Our Climbing tree, Naomi Ruth, is located across Lower Alexander Lake from the Alexander Lakes Parking Area and can be access easily by a short walk across the dam on the PATH Trail. once across, the second trail on the right, leading into the meadow, takes you to the Tree. If you hit Scout Lake Primitive Camping, you've gone too far. Costs are $15 per person and $5 parking fee.
