Chinese Master Artist I-Hsiung Ju - 9/1 - 9/30/15 Open every day except on Mondays
I-Hsiung Ju was born in 1923 in Jiangyin, Jiangsu, China. He is considered one of a few artists able to blend two worlds of style, technique, and idiom to produce a unique form of painting that is both modern and traditionally Oriental. Ju is famous for saying "a Chinese artist is not only a painter, but also a poet and a philosopher." He is an author of several painting textbooks and numerous papers on Chinese art. During his life, he did what he loved, creating and teaching painting. A poet and philosopher, his paintings are lessons in living a fulfilled life and appreciation of the majesty of nature. Ju is revered in Taiwan and the Philippines, and his works hang in their national museums. Open Sunday at 12noon-5pm and Tuesday through Saturday at 10am-5pm. Stone Mountain Park's Labor Day Weekend Celebration - 9/4 - 9/6/15
Stone Mountain Park honors the American spirit through a three-day celebration, highlighted by extended fireworks shows. The extended fireworks displays will be seen Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights after the park's famed Lasershow featuring songs about working men and women. Vehicle entry to the park is $15 for a one-day permit or $40 for an annual permit. Join instructors on the George H. Sparks Reservoir for an afternoon of Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP). Located in a hotel on a Civil War site, many dealers offer coins, currency, bullion and collectibles at the Greater Atlanta Coin Show one Sunday per month. Visitors can browse, buy, sell or trade at the show. The experienced dealers also offer free verbal appraisals for items brought to the show. Other collectibles are also on display, such as medals, Civil War artifacts, stock certificates, scrip from coal miners, jewelry and gemstones. All visitors are welcome to the coin show, including experienced collectors and investors, and those who are new to the hobby or just curious about the many items on display.
