Best Corn Mazes and Pumpkin Patches in Georgia

Georgia's fall farm season runs from mid-September through early November, and corn mazes and pumpkin patches are the heart of it. We picked four working farms spread across the state, from the metro Atlanta suburbs down to the coastal plain, that go beyond just a field of pumpkins with real mazes, hayrides, and animals to see.

1. Buford Corn Maze

Location: Buford, in the northern Atlanta suburbs   Season: Mid-September through mid-November

Buford Corn Maze is the closest full farm-fall experience to metro Atlanta on this list, with a real corn maze cut into a dry-corn field, hayrides, a corn box made from an old-fashioned hand-crank corn sheller, and antique farm equipment on display. In October, the farm adds a separate Haunted Forest on Friday and Saturday nights for anyone looking for a scare, with its own admission. 2. Cagle's Family Farm

Location: Holly Springs, between Canton and Roswell   Season: Fall weekends

Cagle's Family Farm leans into the animal side of a farm visit as much as the maze: goats, ducks, pigs, and dairy cows are all part of the walk-through, with a hayride and dairy cow milking demonstrations added in. 3. Calhoun Produce

Location: Ashburn, in south Georgia   Season: October

Calhoun Produce is a working, Georgia Farm Bureau certified farm market year-round, but every October it cuts a corn maze into one of its fields, some years shaped like the state of Georgia itself. 4. Poppell Farm

Location: Odum, in southeast Georgia   Season: Fall, plus Christmas tree sales after Thanksgiving

Poppell Farm has been a family farm since 1988, growing produce on about 400 acres, and it adds a pumpkin patch and corn maze field trips every fall. The farm is upfront that Georgia's climate does not always cooperate with growing its own pumpkins, so some years it trucks them in from Tennessee to make sure there are enough for visitors, a detail worth knowing if you are picking a patch based on locally grown pumpkins specifically. Call ahead: Farm fall attractions are weather-dependent and family-run, so hours posted online can be out of date. A quick call before you drive out saves a wasted trip.
