West Fork Campground & General Information
Visitors marvel over the picturesque bird’s eye view of the world renowned Chattooga River at this 5-site developed campground. Located along the west fork of the river, this area offers isolation and adventure all in one.

Chattooga River MapVisitors often comment they feel as though they’ve been swept back in time and are looking out onto the great frontier of the past when enjoying the area’s treasured scenic views. Come explore and enjoy such adventures as camping, fishing, hiking and canoeing!

Campground Amenities: This rustic area along the west fork of the Chattooga River offers only 5 walk-in camp sites. There is a graveled parking area and restroom facility onsite. Standard amenities include a grill, picnic tables, lantern post, etc.

Reservations Reservations are not required. Campsites are on a first come, first serve basis.

Camping Fees: $8 per night

Permit Info: Georgia fishing license and trout stamp required for fishing.

Open: All year 24 hours a day. Quite hours are 10pm until 7am.

Restrictions: The maximum stay is 21 days.

Closest Towns: The nearest town is approximately 18 miles, or 30 minutes, to Clayton, GA. Here campers will find restaurants, grocery stores, etc.

Restroom Facilities: 1 Chemical Vault on site.

Passes: The Interagency Senior and Access Passes and the Golden Age and Access Passports are accepted. These passes entitle the pass holder to a 50% discount on camping fees.

Recreation Activities
Day Hiking within a 30 minute drive - Three Forks Trail - Ttrail length is 1.2 miles.

River and Stream Fishing - West Fork of the Chattooga River offers anglers the chance to catch rainbow or the occasional brown trout.

Swimming - Vistors often enjoy swimming, wading or tubing the West Fork of the Chattooga.

Office hours: Monday - Friday at 8-12 & 1-4:30 pm

Directions: From the intersection of US Highway 441 and Rickman Drive (County Road 219) in Clayton, GA, head east on Rickman Dr. for 0.5 mile. Turn right onto Warwoman Rd. and go 13.2 miles. Turn left onto Overflow Creek Rd. (Forest Service Road 86) and go 1.0 mile to the West Fork Campground.
