Labor Day Twilight Paddle - 9/4/15 at 8-9:30pm
Enjoy this relaxing paddle around scenic Lake Marbury. Learn about the history of the old fort, and enjoy the view under the setting sun. Space is limited, advance registration required. Stone Mountain Park's Labor Day Weekend Celebration - 9/4 - 9/6/15
Stone Mountain Park honors the American spirit through a three-day celebration, highlighted by extended fireworks shows. The extended fireworks displays will be seen Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights after the park's famed Lasershow featuring songs about working men and women. Vehicle entry to the park is $15 for a one-day permit or $40 for an annual permit. Laborless Day - 9/4 - 9/6/15
All Play and No Work kicks off this weekend. Friday, participate in Woods Walk. Let the lightsticks shine your way on this night hike. See if you can see or hear some night life. On Saturday, Nature Nook will be open. Crafts include Leaf Prints and Stamps. Learn about turtles in Turtle Time. On Sunday, Springo Bingo, Mammal Mania and Bead Crafts conclude the weekend. Hours are Fri at 7:30pm-8:30pm, Sat at 11:30-7pm and Sunday at 11am-7pm. Costs are $1-$4 per activity per person, plus $5 parking fee. Labor Day at Jarrell Plantation - 9/5/15 at 10:30am-3:30pm
What better way to celebrate Labor Day than learning about old time labor? Enjoy old time handicraft making demonstrations, learn about how household chores were done, and try some yourself. Labor Day Weekend Activities - 9/5/15 at 9:30am-9pm
We will have a 9:30 a.m. nature scavenger hunt, 10 a.m. leaf ID hike, 1:30 p.m. kid's activity (including face painting, balloon animals, crafts, etc.), 2:30 p.m. narrated wagon ride, 3:30 p.m. wagon ride and history hike, 5:30 p.m. wagon ride & s'mores, and 7:15 p.m. sunset hike. Holiday Gorge Floor Hike - 9/5 - 9/7/15 at 10:30am-2:30pm
This is a strenuous trek, which include hiking down 531 stairs, a river crossing, jumping from rock to rock, and climbing boulders along the side of the river to Bridal Veil Falls where you can swim. The total miles is 3.5. Children must be 10 or older. No pets; wear appropriate footwear; bring food and water. Cost is $10 per person and $5 parking fee. Space is limited. G.R.I.T.S. Labor Day Bike Ride - 9/7/15 - Starts at 8am
The Georgia Rails Into Trails Society (GRITS) volunteers will have their 17th annual Labor Day Bike Ride. Metric Century 100km (62.1 miles) at 9 a.m. - Departing from the park in downtown Rockmart, you will bike west on the Silver Comet Trail to the Georgia/Alabama state line. Bike & Blades (27 miles) at 9:15 a.m. - This ride departs from the park in downtown Rockmart and heads west on the Silver Comet Trail to the Welcome Center in Cedartown, Ga. Brushy Mountain Tunnel (13 miles) at 9:30 a.m - Depart from the park in Rockmart, head east on the Silver Comet Trail. You will pass the old cotton gin, ride alongside Euharlee Creek, pass the old brick ovens in VanWert, and then scenic Coots Lake. After a gentle uphill ride of about 7 miles you will return to Rockmart in an almost continuous downhill ride back to the park. Handicapped Accessible event. Bike Helmets are required! The Haunting of Blackbeards' Island - 10/24/15 at 6:30-9pm
Savage Island becomes Blackbeards' Island for the weekend as we decorate and dress like pirates. Decorate your campsite like a pirate ship or camp and compete for prizes for the most original and most frightening campsite. Rangers will go site to site giving out candy. A Haunted Evening at A.H. Stephens - 10/31/15 at 6:30 - 10:30pm
Join park staff and Friends of A.H. Stephens for a fun evening of ghouling events. Activities include a haunted hayride, treats, movie on the lawn, Wii Dance, Campfire, Costume Contest, and a Campsite decorating contest for both RV and Equestrian Campers.
