Christmas In The Park - 12/9/16
Children of all ages are invited. Holiday cheer is offered free to the public from 6 - 9 p.m. Santa will arrive at the Summerville Depot at 6:30 p.m. to visit and offer free photos with children. The official lighting of the tree ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. Free hot chocolate, cotton candy, and popcorn will be available.Traditional holiday hay rides will board from the park. Musical entertainment will also be a highlight of the evening, bringing Christmas cheer to all. Drawings will be held for a girl's and a boy's bike, as well as a Christmas ham. Tickets will be available at no charge. The announcement of winners is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. Free tours of the Historic Couey House will be given by the Chattooga County Historical Society. Celtic Christmas - 12/9/16 at 7:30-10pm
Born and raised in Drogheda, Ireland on the banks of the River Boyne, Harry O'Donoghue began his musical career at age twenty, performing at Folk Masses, the Irish Wheelchair Association, and other locations. In 1979, he was a founding member of the group Terra Nova and by the mid-eighties they were touring the U.S. and were signed to Polydor Records. Harry has performed, by invitation, with the Savannah Symphony and has shared the bill with international recording artists such as Mary Black, Cathie Ryan, Andy M. Steward, Natalie McMaster, the Furey Brothers, Tommy Makem, Danny Doyle and others. Harry will be joined on stage by Carroll Brown on acoustic guitar and Marci Shone on the fiddle. Welcome Yule! Spivey Hall's most cherished holiday tradition is the Children's Choir Program's December concerts. All three choirs perform on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, the Children's Choir and Tour Choir perform an extended program. Each concert features audience sing-alongs of traditional carols accompanied by the Albert Schweitzer Memorial Organ, Spivey Hall's magnificent Fratelli Ruffatti pipe organ. Country Christmas Nights - 12/9 - 12/10/16 at 5:30-9:30pm
Make special Christmas memories at The Rock Ranch this year, centrally located near Atlanta, Macon, Columbus, and LaGrange, Ga. Families can hop on-board The Rock Ranch Christmas Express Train ride featuring falling snow, snowflake tunnel and a dancing Christmas lights show. In 1805, Cherokee Chief James Vann opened his new brick mansion to the Moravian missionaries to hold one of the first Christmas celebrations in the Cherokee Nation. Lake Lanier Parade of Boats 2016 - 12/10/16 at 10am-10pm
Decorate your boat, for the parade/help raise money for Toys for Tots/Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes. Hosted by Lanier Islands, the fleets will be leaving from the Marinas and traveling to Sunset Cove. The parade will continue into Sunset Cove and be on display for spectators. Each fleet will have a leader that will lead them into the islands, this will help to ensure that we avoid traveling near any dangerous low water. 57th Annual Christmas Tea - 12/10/16 at 11am-3pm
Guests will tour the Midway Museum, and learn about life in Liberty County during Colonial times. Museum hosts will be dressed in period clothing and will serve locally made tea and treats. Seatings will be at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. Advance reservations are required by emailing rsvpmidwaymuseum@gmail.com or by calling. The museum is home to artifacts from the colonial period up until 1865. Also included on the grounds is the Historic Midway Congregational Church. The adjacent cemetery is the resting place for two notable Revolutionary War Generals, Daniel Stewart and James Screven.
