Something is awry on the mountain as old forgotten gold miners seem to be coming back to life! Get your Halloween chills and thrills as you ride on our own Ghost Train and tour our Haunted Hut! Scarecrow Showcase & Contest - 10/31/14
The contest is open to all individuals, families, businesses, schools, churches, non-profit organizations and governments in McDonough and surrounding areas. Last year's event showcased 67 scarecrows on and around the Historic McDonough Square with over 1000 votes cast for the People's Choice Award. Wild Rumpus Halloween Parade and Spectacle - 10/31/14 at 8pm
The Wild Rumpus is Athens' Biggest Halloween Party. The vision of The Wild Rumpus is to provide an organized avenue for the massive array of Athens creativity which manifests with such awesome power every Halloween. Halloween is Athens' Mardi Gras. Dahlonega Ghost Walk - Historic Hauntings Tour - 10/31/14
The 14-location guided tour takes guests on an eerie and intriguing journey full of local tales and legends. Tour guide and founder Jeremy Sharp weaves through streets, back alleys, rows of historic buildings, and the historically significant local cemetery.  He has studied Dahlonega’s history and has also worked with paranormal researchers using thermal cameras and other equipment to document some sightings. 12th Annual Pumpkin Festival - 10/31/14
Families are invited to take in all the splendor that autumn provides with fun filled games and shows at Stone Mountain Park's Twelfth Annual Pumpkin Festival, to take place each weekend during October. Families can twist and turn in Spookley's A-MAZE-ING Adventure maze. Puzzles, passages, twists and turns will keep kids guessing until they reach the exit. Pumpkin Palooza takes the stage with an energy-filled family game show where audience members are picked to participate in a series of zany and messy challenges. The winner takes all and the losers have to spin the "Wheel of Misery," with consequences ranging from a pie in the face, dancing like a chicken or getting "splurfed" (a gooey, slimy substance poured on top of your head). Nevermore Hills Haunted Trail at Museum of Aviation - 10/31/14 8-11pm
Dr. Rod Usher was a military scientist who secretly began cloning animal and plant DNA/traits to humans to produce a super human military. Due to his unconventional and highly questionable practices, his project was closed and classified as the "Nevermore Project." He was dishonorably discharged and exiled along with his wife. Nevermore Hills Haunted Trail will include a variety of scares in the woods, as well as a number of haunted barns. Volunteers from the Warner Robins community have been working diligently for the last few months to prepare for this exciting new fundraiser. The cost for the haunted trail will be $13 per person and ticket sales will end by 11 p.m. Children ages 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult. E.L. Cravin's Haunted Funeral Parlor - 10/31/14
Tour E.L. Craven's Funeral Parlor in Blackshear for a spooky good time and hear the story of E.L. Craven, a doctor who quit his practice and moved to Blackshear in 1909. He lost his wife and son in a fire that burned the funeral parlor to the ground in the summer of 1914. By late October 1914, he had the place rebuilt and moved in, but he bricked in or boarded up most of the doors and windows. There were several complaints through the years of loud screams and noises in the middle of the night and strange sightings of him. Decades later, around the summer of 2008, strange activities started re-occurring at the mysterious parlor. Unmarked vans and delivery trucks arrived, screams were heard in the middle of the night, and a full staff appears to be working at the parlor. But where did they come from? What are they doing? Haunted Dahlonega: Spirits, Legends & Lore - 11/1/14 at 7pm
The Friends of the Dahlonega Gold Museum Historic Site, a not-for-profit organization, is conducting fun, interactive tours suitable for adults and children. A new narrative is being written by local author Trisha Slay, who is working on a paranormal mystery novel. “Haunted Dahlonega: Spirits, Legends & Lore” explains why Dahlonega is such a hotbed of activity, includes Cherokee folktales, and explores local mysteries and benevolent hauntings. Lantern Tour - 11/1/14 at 7-9pm
The Old City Cemetery Committee, a part of the Washington County Historical Society in Sandersville, will host a Lantern Tour on Nov. 1, 2014, in conjunction with the 150th celebration of the Civil War Sesquicentennial. The Old City Cemetery was first used as a cemetery in 1832 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Notable historical figures buried at the site include Thomas W. Hardwick, Governor of Georgia (1921-1923), U.S. Senator (1914-1919) and Representative (1903-1914); Coleman R. Pringle, the father of Prohibition in Georgia; and eight Sandersville mayors. The cemetery is also the resting place of more than 99 Civil War soldiers, and many will be featured on the tour. The cemetery is also the site of a skirmish between General Joseph Wheeler's Rebel troops and those of William T. Sherman. Please join us for the memorable tour. We know you will not be disappointed. Dahlonega Ghost Walk - Historic Hauntings Tour - 11/4 & 11/7 - 11/8/14 at 8pm
The 14-location guided tour takes guests on an eerie and intriguing journey full of local tales and legends. Tour guide and founder Jeremy Sharp weaves through streets, back alleys, rows of historic buildings, and the historically significant local cemetery.  He has studied Dahlonega’s history and has also worked with paranormal researchers using thermal cameras and other equipment to document some sightings. Tour is approximately 1.3 miles long. Tours, all on paved, designated walkways, with the exception of Mount Hope Cemetery, end in front of the Visitors Center, 13 South Park Street.
