How better to celebrate Labor Day than learning about old time labor? Experience first hand the daily chores needed to run a farm and reward your labors with games and music. Labor Day Celebration at the Fort - 9/3/16 at 9am-4pm
Come for a relaxing and entertaining day for the whole family. Civil War soldiers will be firing rifles and cannons throughout the day while presenting living history programs. See the zoo from a different perspective. Get a unique up-close-and-personal guided tour. Meet and greet with some of the zoo's baby exotic animals and animal ambassadors . Enjoy refreshments while watching the sunset, and get up close with even more animals. Don't forget your camera so you can take pictures with the baby animals! Space is limited. Call for cost and reservations. Tour schedule: Check in/ visit the Petting Zoo: 30 minutes. Guided Wildlife Walk with a twist: 30 minutes. Hay Ride/ Camel Encounter: 20 minutes. Stop at sunset landing: 30 minutes. Watch sunset meet and greet and picture time with baby or young exotic animal guests. Enjoy refreshments! Hayride back to the parking lot. Callaway Olympic Triathlon/Duathlon and 5K - 9/4/16 at 7:30am-5pm
Join us on Labor Day weekend for a day full of fun and adventure. It will be an action packed weekend at Callaway and we can't wait to share it with you. So pack your bags and come stay with us! Fees: Individuals: $75 through 8/20/16; $85 thereafter. Teams: $150 through 8/20/16; $170 thereafter. The Swim: 1K (horseshoe shaped) around pristine Robin Lake (deep water entire swim but within 20 yards of shoreline first half of swim). The Bike: 30K - out and back on Scenic Drive, Discovery Pkwy. and Mountain Creek Dr. The Run: 8K - including Robin Lake Circle and the paved bike trail. This is a very fast course! Tybee Island Labor Day Beach Bash - 9/4/16 at 7-9:30pm
Enjoy the ocean breezes while live music fills the air with the popular band The Swingin' Medallions in a free concert beginining at 7 p.m., followed by a spectacular fireworks show around 9:15 p.m.! Labor Day at Fort King George - 9/5/16 at 10am-4pm
On this day, site staff and volunteers will be demonstrating various colonial period "labor" jobs. There will be ladies spinning natural fibers into thread on spinning wheels, wood-working, and possibly a blacksmith. There will also be the usual celebratory musket and cannon firings, which will take place on the hour. Admission cost is $4.50 to $7.50 per person. Labor Day at the Post - 9/5/16 at 11am-4pm
Celebrate Labor Day with a Fort Oglethorpe tradition - Labor Day at The Post. It's a day filled with arts & craft vendors, good fun, food and live music, featuring James Rogers. Entertainment includes bluegrass band Mountain City Grass at 1 p.m. followed by James Rogers at 2 p.m. Handicapped Accessible event. Free fun event! G.R.I.T.S. Labor Day Bike Ride - 9/5/16 at 8am
Come and enjoy one of the most scenic and popular regions in Georgia for cycling and training. At 9:30 a.m, you will bike on the Silver Comet Trail to Bama & Back (20 miles). Head west on the SCT from the Cedartown Welcome Center. Bike, roller blade or skate board to the Alabama state line. Gentle grades, perfect for all family members. Silver Comet & Chief Ladiga (48 miles) 9:15 a.m. - Bike or Blade - Head west on the Silver Comet Trail, crossing into Alabama on the Chief Ladiga Trail, to the Piedmont Welcome Center. Road Bike Routes: 42-mile, 62-mile Metric Century - All routes follow the same route for the first 20 miles with a SAG stop on the SCT at GA/AL Arch Gateway. These routes are rural low traffic roads. 42-mile route (1,541 ft/climb) 9:15 a.m. - Low traffic rural forest roads and rejoins the longer route options. Metric Century 62-mile route (2,252 ft/climb) 9:00 a.m.- After mile 20. Traveling scenic, low traffic rural roads returning to Cedartown. These routes are physically demanding and should not be attempted unless you are an experienced rider in excellent condition. Registration fee is $35 per person - includes T-shirt. Labor Day Holiday Tree Climbing - 9/5/16 at 11am-4pm
Ever wondered why we have a course in "tree climbing?" Well, here's your chance to give it a go. Find out why on-rope tree climbing is a labor of love. This crash course is a great side event for picnickers. No advanced registration required. Find us at the tree by the bath house. Ages 8 and up please. Long shorts advised. Spooky Wagon Ride - 10/21-10/22 & 10/28-10/29/16 at 7:30-9:30pm
Take a frightful wagon ride through a dark and creepy forest. Meet a strange and ghastly cast of characters along the way. Wagon will depart from beach parking lot, each ride lasts about 20 minutes. Rides will be first come, first serve. Volunteer ghosts are needed; contact the park as soon as possible. Costs are $5 plus $5 parking.
