Clayton Cluckers Turkey Trot - 11/27/14 at 8-10am
Put the turkey in the oven on Thanksgiving morning then join the 5K run or walk through downtown Clayton to celebrate our thanksgivings. All proceeds from the race will benefit a local food distribution center. Gift of Lights - 11/27 - 11/30/14
Atlanta Motor Speedway will be lit up like never before this holiday season for the inaugural Gift of Lights Holiday Light Show. Enjoy a nightly drive-through event, with over one million LED lights in hundreds of displays on hand for the public to enjoy. Gift of Lights will benefit the Atlanta Motor Speedway chapter of Speedway Children's Charities. There will also be a toy collection for Toys for Tots. The Cornelia Christmas Light Spectacular takes place in Cornelia City Park starting Thanksgiving evening at dusk and continues through New Year's Day. The drive through the lights is free! Enjoy a professional display of thousands of lights for your family to enjoy. As part of the festivities in 2014, Cornelia will once again host several days of additional activities. Dahlonega's Old Fashioned Christmas is a month-long celebration set into motion on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, with the Lighting of the Square. Plenty of festive holiday eventscontinue almost daily with caroling, entertainment, wine sampling, and live theater events. A live nativity scene with animals will be on display at the Park Place Hotel on the Square, and kids can visit with Santa every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. During your visit, ride an old-fashioned trolley and take a horse-drawn carriage ride through town. Other events include a parade, a Sleigh Bell Tour of inns and bed and breakfasts. Okefenokee Swamp Park Annual Light Show - 11/28 - 11/30/14
This festive wilderness light show is enjoyed by young and old alike, and has become an annual tradition for many. Bring a blanket or afghan and snuggle on the trains as they make their way along a 1.25-mile rail at the Okefenokee Swamp Park in Waycross, where thousands of lights and numerous outdoor displays can be viewed. Kiddies also can ride a miniature train just for little ones. Then, walk through the park and enjoy a meal or snacks (including gator tail) at the Peach Pit Snack Shack. On Thursday, join us from 5:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. for our Jingle Bell Walk, as we take a walk through Helena on 8th Avenue and McRae on Oak Street. Line up for the walk on Forsyth Street in Helena beginning at 5 p.m., and the walk will begin promptly at 5:30 pm. Bring your jingle bells and help us officially begin the Christmas season in Telfair County! After the walk, stay around for Christmas Night Out from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Stroll along the streets of Helena and McRae, shop and sample delicious food from local merchants. Santa will make an appearance so the kids can get their wish lists in early. Atlanta Motor Speedway will be lit up like never before this holiday season for the inaugural Gift of Lights Holiday Light Show. Enjoy a nightly drive-through event, with over one million LED lights in hundreds of displays on hand for the public to enjoy. Gift of Lights will benefit the Atlanta Motor Speedway chapter of Speedway Children's Charities. There will also be a toy collection for Toys for Tots.
