Labor of Love Career and Resource Fair is a collaboration between Georgia Department of Labor's North Metro Career Center and Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless. This event provides resources and job readiness workshops for individuals that participate in this event along with job opportunities. In addition, HFTH provides groceries to participants in need. This event is open to the public at no cost to attend. Job seekers do not need to pre-register. Citizens who have ever wondered what education, training, and skills are required for a career in Fire Services will have all the information available to them at this inaugural expo. Several fire departments from across the state of Georgia have also been invited to participate, in addition to representatives from the Georgia Fire Academy, Valdosta State University, Wiregrass Technical College, and Georgia Military College. The VFD will be accepting applications for employment. To become a member of the VFD, an applicant must have a high school diploma and must successfully pass a cognitive/academic skills and physical agility test, a background check, reference checks, a physical, and a drug test.
