Blue Ridge Trout Fest and Outdoor Adventures - 4/28 at 5:30-9pm & 4/29/17 at 10am-7pm
Celebrate the trout capital of Georgia from the epicenter of Fannin County. The event gathers fishermen, river sports enthusiasts, allied outdoor recreation fans and their families to Blue Ridge for fun, education, food, entertainment and outfitter services while increasing the public's knowledge of trout and the conservation ethos associated with Trout Unlimited. Bring your family and a big appetite. The event features a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned competition. On Friday evening, the smell of BBQ will fill the air as contestants start cooking. Take a stroll, enjoy the aroma, see the teams in action, and visit the food and arts and crafts vendors. Head to Court Street for live entertainment or relax to the sounds of bluegrass at the Harris Arts Center's annual Georgia String Band Festival. Saturday boasts a full day of festivities, including live music, arts and crafts vendors, kids zone, and of course, food! Hills of Iron & Iron Pour - 4/29/17 at 10am-9pm
Discover the park's iron-mining history by touring an iron mine with a park ranger. Ride leaves every 1/2 hour; some easy hiking is required to explore the mine. ArtFest at the Mill - 4/29/17 at 10am-5pm
ArtFest is an annual exhibition of artists from throughout Georgia. Exhibitors have. Exhibitors have included metal working, painting, drawing, woodworking, pottery, writing, music and more. In addition to artist exhibits, live entertainment runs throughout the day. There are a variety of food vendors on site as well as local restaurants and shops adjacent to the festival site. Tear Drop "Downhill" Half Marathon, 10K & 5K - 4/30/17 at 7-11am
If you're looking for a fast and scenic half marathon then join us. All distances will start on top of Fort Mountain at an elevation near 3000 feet and finish in Chatsworth, Georgia, for an over 2000-foot drop for the Half Marathon. All courses (13.1, 10K, 5K) will be USAT&F certified for those participants that are looking to set a personal record or for a qualifying time at a race elsewhere. Chatsworth is 80 miles from Atlanta, 40 miles from Chattanooga and 10 miles from Dalton. The race courses are on all paved roads and features 5-10% grade downhill (which will improve your time :40- 1:20 per mile!) and then a flat to rolling finish. Beautiful medals for all finishers and every participant will receive a T-Shirt in addition to post-race food; N. Georgia pulled pork BBQ and veggie hotdogs, and drinks; beer for 21 and over participants! There will also be great raffle prizes for all participants! Cost is $20 to $60 per person. Blue Ridge Mountain Wine and Jazz Festival - 5/6/17 at 2-9pm
The festival will be a celebration of the musical, enological (science of wine and wine making), visual and culinary arts. John Conlee at Mill Town Music Hall - 5/6/17 at 7:30-10pm
John Conlee's success began in the late 70's. Signed to ABC Records. His first release, Back Side Of Thirty went nowhere fast. Three more singles also met with a minimum success, although they all charted. But in March of 1978, the label released Rose Colored Glasses, a song Conlee wrote, which became a huge hit as well as his signature song. In January of 1979, the label re-released Back Side Of Thirty which went on to become a No. 1 record, and the hits continued to roll. Handicapped Accessible event. Tickets are $28 to $33 each. Lawn Game Merriment - 5/6/17 at 11am-4pm
Enjoy an afternoon of lawn games with an AmeriCorps ranger on the lawn by the Vaughn Cabin. Have some unadulterated fun playing great games like bocce ball, corn hole, croquet, ladder ball, kubb, and giant jenga. Open to all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult. Drop in and leave at your leisure. This event is free and for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. See 200 heirloom roses in bloom, purchase your favorite selections from Master Gardeners, and enjoy arts & crafts, entertainment and fresh food. Take a tour of the Rose Lawn museum to see inside Jones' home and to discover the legacy he left in Cartersville, Nashville and across the U.S. Other displays honor Rebecca Latimer Felton, first female U.S. Senator from Cartersville. Georgia Mountain Classic Car Show - 5/13/17 at 9am-5pm
See more than 200 classic cars parked in the quaint historic district of Blue Ridge. Registration starts at 9 a.m. We will offer door prizes and trophies for the top 25 trucks, trophies for the top 50 cars, and specialty awards that include Mayor's Choice, Chief of Police Choice, Best Chevy, Best Ford, and numerous other specialty awards. 34th Annual Trout Rodeo - 5/13/17 at 8am-4pm
Enjoy fishing, prizes, food and fun. Each participant will receive a goody bag and a baseball cap with the wildlife logo. Drawings will be held throughout the day for hundreds of prizes. Ernest Evans was born in Spring Gulley, South Carolina, but grew up in South Philadelphia, where he lived with his parents and two brothers. When he was a small boy, his mother took him to see Sugar Child Robinson, a child piano prodigy and also the famous country singer Ernest Tubb. Young Evans was so impressed, that he vowed to someday enter show business and took his first step toward that goal by forming a street corner harmony group when he was only 11 years old.
