Billy's Island Paddle - 4/23/14 at 10am-1pm
Join us for a paddle out to historic Billy's Island. This island was home to Native Americans, pioneers, and lumbermen for thousands of years. We will paddle out to the island, hike the short trail, about 3/4 of a mile, and view some of the relics left from times past. Sign up 48 hours in advance. Four person minimum. Moderate difficulty. Join the Hinesville Area Arts Council for this spring's Cupcake War. 2pm Reptile Show: Come and learn all the differences between reptiles and amphibians and touch live examples. 5pm Roving Ranger. 8pm Call of the Wild: Walk the trails at night to hear nocturnal animals call. Savannah River Spring Classic - 4/25 at 5-8pm & 4/26/14 at 5am-5pm
Calling all anglers! Enter the Savannah River Spring Classic April 26, 2014, and compete for cash prizes, including a $2,000 grand prize. The field is limited to 75 boats/150 anglers (two per team), and teams will enter the competition in the order registered. So, sign up early! Registration fee: $150 per team. Proceeds will benefit the Chatham County chapter of The Military Order of the Purple Heart, a non-profit veterans group. Tournament Registration (per two-angler team) cost $150. Free parking. Woodbine Crawfish Festival - 4/25 at 5-9pm & 4/26/14 at 8am-6:30pm
The crawfish, sort of a miniature cousin to the lobster, has managed to achieve its own celebration in Woodbine. The two-day event is held at the Waterfront Park and Riverwalk in Downtown Woodbine. It includes food (with lots of tasty crawfish etoufee!), free all-day entertainment, arts and crafts, children's activities and much more. Handicapped Accessible event. Free parking. NOGS Tour of Hidden Gardens - 4/25 - 4/26/14 at 10am-4pm
Tour some of the most beautiful gardens in Savannah's Historic District. See the bold and beautiful with a distinctly Southern flair. The tour highlights eight walled gardens located north of Gwinnett Street (NOGS) and the Massie Heritage Center, which will be unveiling its own newly renovated gardens. Garden tours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, and guests may start at any tour location. Take a break with a Southern tea from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Green Meldrim House on Madison Square. Early Bird Walking Tour of the Landmark Historic District’s East Side - 4/26/14
Take an early morning walk through one of the oldest and most varied neighborhoods to learn how historic preservation has revitalized downtown Savannah. Tours led by the Davenport House director will introduce the personalities, structures and issues that have enthralled Savannah's preservation movement. Stand Up for America Day - 4/26/13 at 10am-10pm
This event honors America's service men and women, past and present. The streets of Port Wentworth are filled with a parade, music, arts, crafts, food and kiddie rides. 8th Annual Cassina's Tabby & Tillandsia Garden Walk "Garden Treasures" - 4/26/14
Celebrate the horticultural beauty of the St. Simons coastal area. Visitors can explore eight private gardens on St. Simons Island, participate in a garden treasure hunt with prizes, and enjoy an old-fashioned garden party at the Hamilton Plantation tabby slave cabins.
