Celebrate our nation's birthday with the troops of Fort McAllister. Cannon firings, musket firings, blacksmithing and historical games will run all day. $2.50 - $4.

A day of family fun! 5k & 10k run, dog show, arts & crafts vendors, parade, kiddy rides, entertainment throughout the day, street dance and one of the largest fireworks displays in Southeast Georgia. Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. Free admission and parking

Fireworks Extravaganza - 7/5 & 7/6/2008
Come out to enjoy music and fireworks on Jekyll Island's beautiful beach. Activities, including fireworks and live entertainment. We'll have fireworks again at Summer Waves Water Park the next night! Bring your family out for the celebration. Admission: TBD, Parking fee: $3

Walk 18 holes at The Lakes Golf Course at Laura S. Walker on any Tuesday in June, July and August for $10.00. Tee time is required. $3 parking.

Labor Day at Fort McAllister - 8/30/2008 at 10 am - 4 pm
Civil War labor was much like ours today. Witness blacksmithing, woodworking and cannon firing demonstrations. Bring the kids to take part in old-fashion Civil War games. Pack a lunch and have a cool slice of melon with us. $2.50 - $4.

Garrison Dinner - 9/20/2008 at 7-9 pm
Join the Garrison as our British officers dispute with Spanish emissaries sent to protest the presence of Fort King George on the Altamaha River. An evening dinner and debate will take place. RSVP by September 16. $30.

National Memorial Service, WWII Submarine Vets - 11/6 - 11/9/2008 at 10 am - 5 pm
Annual memorial service for the subvets who are on eternal patrol. Held on the Sub Base. Special pass or military ID required to enter the Kings Bay Sub Base. Free admission and parking

The Debatable Land Fall Encampment - 11/8/2008 at 10 am - 5 pm
A wide range of living history presentations will highlight various cultures and people that inhabited our region, long before Georgia was established in 1733. A battle reenactment will take place at 2 p.m. $2.50-$5.

"Come & Take It!"; A Revolutionary War Encampment - 11/22/2008 at 11 am - 4 pm
This American Revolution encampment commemorates Col. John McIntosh's defiant reply to a British demand for surrender, "Come & Take It!" There will be various colonial demonstrations, musket & cannon drills, a small skirmish and more. Interpreters in historical attire will represent a variety of colonial life: soldiers, civilians & camp followers. $1.75-$3

White Lighting Ceremony 2008 - 12/2/2008 at 6-9 pm
Starting at Dusk at the old paper mill site, the walking parade proceeds down Osborne Street with Santa & Mrs. Santa leading the way. Picture it all: Dance performances are a part of the parade. Christmas music is sung. The parade ends at the Waterfront and the City Christmas Tree is lit. Children line up to give their Wish List to Santa. Free admission and parking

Winter Muster & Battle at Fort McAllister - 12/13/2008 at 10 am - 6 pm
Enjoy a day of fort activities leading up the the 15-minute battle that captured Fort McAllister. Witness and smell the battle that ended Sherman's March to the Sea. The battle will be followed by a candle lantern tour. $2.50 - $4.
