Coastal Kids Nature Camp - 3/28 - 3/30/17 at 8am-4pm
Join park rangers at three different sites and participate in water activities at each site. Students will visit Crooked River State Park, Laura S. Walker State Park, and Fort King George Historic Site, . A park ranger will provide transportation from Crooked River to each site. Costs are $105 per person and $5 vehicle parking fee. Annual Rail Watch - 4/1/17 at 8am-5pm
Rail watchers from all over the world come to watch trains at the Historic Depot Train Museum and the Folkston Funnel Platform. Enjoy photography, videos and other rail fans. "The Folkston Funnel" is located in downtown Folkston, Georgia. It is a CSXT double-track main line. All of CSXT's trains moving to and from Florida (except the few trains that go west) must pass through the funnel. There are six Amtrak trains passing through the funnel each day; the Auto Train is one of these. The Tropicana Juice Train moves from Bradenton, FL, to Kearney, NJ, five nights a week. The platform is equipped with a scanner tuned to CSXT's frequency 160.590 and 160.320. Lights and electric outlets are available. A picnic table, grill and restrooms are available for visitors. Savannah’s A-Town Get Down Music & Art Festival - 3/25/17 at 12noon-12midnight
The family-friendly event is free from noon to 5 p.m., and ticketed from 5 p.m. to midnight. This year's festival will feature over 25 live bands and visual artists each representing diverse music genres and artistic styles. A-Town is also partnering with Loop It Up Savannah again this year to connect students from Title I school districts to free access to interactive art and music projects. Golf Tournament - 4/1/17
This is your chance to support your park and have a blast while you are at it. This will be a shotgun start tournament. Prizes for the tournament are as follows: 1st place wins $200, 2nd place wins $120, and 3rd place wins $80. There will be several contests including: longest drive, closest to the pin (3x), most accurate drive and a pitching wedge obstacle course. Applications are available at The Lakes club house and at the Visitor's Center at Laura S. Walker State Park. Teams are limited to four participants. Lunch will be provided. Art in the Park - 4/7 - 4/9/17 at 10am-5pm
Art In The Park takes place in the lovely Vernon Square, just steps from the Darien Waterfront Park and Historic Downtown Darien. The juried show and sale featuring painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, or pastel), sculpture and fine crafts (fiber art, pottery, jewelry, stained glass), is a part of the annual Blessing of the Fleet festival. 9th Annual Easter Egg Hunt - Ages 10 and Younger - 4/8/17 at 1-3pm
Children 10 and younger can bring baskets and join in on our Easter egg hunt. There will be separate hunting areas for age groups, with games and crafts before and after the big search. The Easter Bunny will be in attendance to greet children and pose for photographs. Admission Fee is $5 for Youth (6 - 17), $7 for Senior (62 and over) and $8 for Adult. The Big Easter Hunt - 4/8/17 at 10am-2pm
Join us for a celebration of all things Easter and spring with 10,000 eggs to hunt, live music, food, the Easter bunny, hay rides and more! The event takes place at Bryant Commons, a beautiful 150-acre site located in the heart of Downtown Hinesville. It is the homestead of the Senator Glenn E. Bryant and his wife Mrs. Bryant. The Bryant family envisioned the property as a "passive park" for the community to enjoy. Through a joint venture with the Bryant Family Foundation and the City of Hinesville, plans for "Bryant Commons" were developed and it currently features an outdoor amphitheater, 15-acre pond, and Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association museum. Wormsloe's Hidden Gem: The Great Savannah Race - 4/8 - 4/9/17 at 10am-4pm
From 1908 to 1911, Savannah was the site of the first Grand Prix in the United States. The 19-mile long track ran down Skidaway Road. One of the race embankments still remains on Wormsloe's property. Historic cars from local car clubs will be on view and a presentation on the race will be offered. Guided tours will be given at the embankment. Admission cost is $4.50 to $10 per person.
