Fort Frederica National Monument NPS Centennial Living History Festival - 8/27/16 at 10am-4pm
This event commemorates the centennial birthday of the National Park Service. Activities throughout the day will immerse visitors into the history of Frederica and the struggle for empire between Great Britain and Spain in the 18th Century. Volunteers from throughout the region will help the National Park Service bring this history to life. From Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, Florida, Spanish soldiers will explain the Spanish side of the story while they demonstrate firing a black powder cannon. Soldiers from Ft. Frederica's volunteer regiment will portray the 42nd Regiment of Foot and explain their role in determining the future of the Colony of Georgia. From Darien, Georgia, Scottish Highlanders in all their kilted glory will demonstrate musket firing. Pets are welcome. Free admission and parking. 34th Annual Kingsland Catfish Festival - 9/3/16 at 9am-9pm

Catfish Express Train Rides - 9/3/16 at 9am-4pm
Ride the Catfish Express at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. or 4 p.m. on September 3. Enjoy the all-day Catfish Festival in downtown Kingsland, then climb aboard the train right there in the heart of it all (Hwy 17 and Hwy 40). On this day, site staff and volunteers will be demonstrating various colonial period "labor" jobs. There will be ladies spinning natural fibers into thread on spinning wheels, wood-working, and possibly a blacksmith.
