E.L. Cravin's Haunted Funeral Parlor - 10/31/14
Tour E.L. Craven's Funeral Parlor in Blackshear for a spooky good time and hear the story of E.L. Craven, a doctor who quit his practice and moved to Blackshear in 1909. He lost his wife and son in a fire that burned the funeral parlor to the ground in the summer of 1914. By late October 1914, he had the place rebuilt and moved in, but he bricked in or boarded up most of the doors and windows. There were several complaints through the years of loud screams and noises in the middle of the night and strange sightings of him. Decades later, around the summer of 2008, strange activities started re-occurring at the mysterious parlor. Unmarked vans and delivery trucks arrived, screams were heard in the middle of the night, and a full staff appears to be working at the parlor. But where did they come from? What are they doing? And where do they go at night? Visit E.L. Craven's Funeral Parlor to see "Where people are DYING to get in." Admission cost is $7-$12. Phone: 912-614-8419 - Address: E.L. Savannah's Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1820 - 10/31/14
Participants in the living history performance experience the story of yellow fever's dreadful consequences, which transformed the bustling seaport of Savannah into a ghost town. Moving through the house and garden by candlelight, visitors observe the 19th century inhabitants as their thoughts turn to the contemplation of their own mortality and feature a consideration of the nature of phantoms, spirits, supernatural happenings and the ultimate nature of the soul. The fate and experiences of the uncounted half to the city's population, both free and enslaved Africans, are revealed. Two performances: 7:30 and 8:45 p.m. Not suitable for children under 8 years of age. Requires that guests be able to walk up and down stairs and maneuver in the candlelit rooms. Admission cost is $17. Hours are 7:30-10pm. Phone: 912-236-8097 - Address: Davenport House Museum, 324 E. State St, Savannah, GA 31401
