Georgia Southern University Planetarium
Our Spitz star projector illuminates thousands of stars, visible planets, Moon, Sun, galaxies, and more on the 30 foot dome appearing like the real sky. View Space, a multimedia live internet program from Space Telescope Science Institute runs continuously in our lobby with the latest images and discoveries. Be sure to also enjoy the mural sized images from Hubble and our indoor Solar System Walk.

During the fall and spring semesters, we offer educational planetarium presentations for school and public groups grades Pre-K to 12 and adults at no charge weekdays at 10 and 11 am by reservation only. We also offer public evenings once a month for all ages. Over 6,000 stars can be projected onto our 30 foot dome using our Spitz A4 star projector, and we can seat 65 visitors with unidirectional seating. For the hearing impaired, we have "Light-Talk" (glow in the dark) gloves for your interpreter to sign with during shows.

Our lobby is equipped with ViewSpace, a streaming multimedia presentation from the Space Telescope Science Institute. Enjoy the daily updates from missions into our solar systems and the Hubble Space Telescope. Join us for a fascinating journey into our universe as we explore the stars, planets, constellations, and even other galaxies in our night sky. For more information or to schedule a presentation for your school or group, please call the Department of Physics.

Please visit our website for more information and to schedule a show for your group.
Educational Shows
The Georgia Performance Standards in physical science relating to astronomy and space science are incorporated into the educational shows for the different grade levels.

These shows are offered Monday through Friday at no charge by reservation only, to public or private school groups, adult and senior citizen groups and clubs. We are only open during the fall and spring semesters (late August - April, and not during final exams or holidays).

Call the Department of Physics at (912) 681-5292 to see what dates and times are available to reserve a show for your group. Student interns will assist with some of the shows as part of their planetarium internship class. A confirmation letter will be sent along with hands-on astronomy pre-visit material and activities.
