Hartwell Lakeside Park (Formerly Hart State Park)

Enjoy boating, water skiing and fishing at Lake Hartwell in this Northeast Georgia park. Largemouth bass, hybrid bass, striper, black crappie, bream, rainbow trout and walleyed pike fill the sparkling waters of the Lake Hartwell reservoir. The day-use boat ramp offers easy access to all water sports, and many campsites sit right on the scenic lake shore.

Driving directions: From Hartwell, drive north on U.S. Hwy 29, turn left on Ridge Rd. and proceed 2 miles to the park. Call ahead to confirm current day-use and camping fees.

Campground Info

As of April 1, 2020, the former Hart State Park is no longer managed by Georgia’s DNR; it transferred to the City of Hartwell and is now known as Hartwell Lakeside Park.

The campground is now run privately as Unhitched Lake Hartwell (Lake Hartwell Campground), with 86 sites, many on or overlooking the water: full-hookup patio sites, water and electric sites, lakeside tent sites, deluxe cabins and teepees. Amenities include Wi-Fi, a store, laundry, restrooms, a pavilion and kayaking. Book online at hartwelllakesidecampground.com or call 706-621-5253.
