Getting there: On Black Rock Mountain Parkway, 3 miles north of Clayton off U.S. Hwy 441 (look for brown directional signs in Mountain City). From Atlanta: I-85 N to I-985 N, staying on the 4-lane through Tallulah Falls and on US 441 N through Clayton, then turn left onto Black Rock Mountain Parkway 3 miles north of Clayton. It's a steep mountain road, which can be hazardous in winter. Reservations may be made up to 11 months in advance, with a maximum of 5 lodge rooms and/or cottages.

Campgrounds
Black Rock Campground
25' sites hold 1-2 tents, a pop-up trailer, or a trailer/motorhome up to 25'. Water, 30 amp electrical service, picnic table, grill, fire ring. Comfort station with washer/dryer, cable available. Maximum 6 people and 2 vehicles per site.
Fern Cove #1 Backcountry
Up to 20 people, 3 tents. No facilities, water must be carried in, fire ring provided, 3-night maximum. A lush north-slope mountain cove at 2,964 ft elevation.
Lookoff Mountain #2 Backcountry
Up to 20 people, 5 tents. No facilities, water carried in, fire ring, no vehicle access. A strenuous 3.5-mile hike over steep terrain to the summit of Lookoff Mountain (3,162 ft), about 100 yards from the scenic Rock Outcrop overlook.
Laurel Ridge #3 Backcountry
Up to 20 people, 5 tents. No facilities, water carried in, fire ring, no vehicle access. A strenuous nearly 4-mile hike to 3,116 ft on Lookoff Mountain's southwestern spur, about half a mile from the Lookoff Mountain site.
Creek Ridge #4 Backcountry
Up to 20 people, 5 tents. Water is available at Greasy Creek but must be treated or boiled; fire ring, no vehicle access, 3-night maximum. A moderate to difficult 1.5-mile hike via the James Edmonds Trail's West Fork to 2,368 ft elevation; the site itself is a bit narrow.
Pioneer Camp (Tsatu-Gi)
Primitive, groups only (10-person minimum). A large shell log camping cabin with electricity and a wood-burning stove, plus 4 Adirondack shelters (8 bunks each) around a fire ring. Grill, picnic tables, pit latrine, and running water, but no hot showers or flush toilets. Gear must be carried a short walk from the parking lot.
Walk-In Sites
Hike-in only, no vehicles. Picnic table, grill, and lantern post at each site; 30-150 feet from parking, with a central bathhouse. More secluded than RV sites. Tent pads accommodate 2 two-person tents or 1 four-person tent.
Cottages
2-Bedroom Cottage
Sleeps 8. Each bedroom has two double beds, one and a half baths. Linens provided, fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker and microwave, fireplace (wood not provided), AC/heat, cable TV. No phone (pay phone nearby). Picnic table and grill outside.
3-Bedroom Cottage
Mountain view, sleeps 10. Two bedrooms have two double beds, third has two singles; two baths (showers only). Linens provided, fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker and microwave, fireplace (wood not provided), AC/heat, cable TV. No phone (pay phone nearby). Picnic table and grill outside.
Picnic Shelters
All visitors are required to have a ParkPass.

Reservations & Cancellation Policy
Cancellations
Must be made at least 3 days before arrival for a refund, minus a handling fee. Changes within 3 days of arrival count as a cancellation and forfeit the deposit.
Cottage Reservations (7-14 day)
Cancellations 30+ days out get a deposit refund minus the facility's cancellation fee. Inside 30 days but before 72 hours of arrival, request a refund in writing; if rebooked for the same dates, you'll get a full refund minus a $10 fee. Within 72 hours of arrival, no refund is given.
Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in is 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., check-out before 1 p.m. Register and present a reservation confirmation before setting up, or you'll be counted a no-show and forfeit your deposit.
Good to Know
One reservation change is allowed at no charge with 3 days' notice ($10 fee for additional changes). There is no water at the campsites from November 1 to April 1, and the road up the mountain has a steep grade.
