Georgia's Sweetwater Creek State Park - This 2549-acre state park is a peaceful tract of wilderness only minutes from bustling downtown Atlanta. The most popular trail (red) follows the free-flowing stream to the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill burned during the Civil War.

Beyond the mill, the trail climbs rocky bluffs to provide views of the beautiful mile-long stretch of white-water rapids below. The 215-acre George Sparks Reservoir is popular with anglers and provides a pretty setting for feeding ducks and canoeing.

Fishing supplies are available in the park’s bait shop, while wildlife and history displays, trail maps, snacks and gift items may be found in the Visitor Center -- the most environmentally responsible building in Georgia. The park's Visitor Center is now open Thurs. through Sat. only.

Red History Hiking Trail - 1 mile one way. Blazed red. Rated easy to difficult.

Blue Nature Trail - 2 miles one way. Blazed blue. Rated moderate to difficult. A steep climb down to the falls deck.

White Trail - 3 miles one way. Blazed white. Rated moderate to difficult.

Yellow (east side) Trail - 3-mile loop. Blazed yellow. Rated moderate to difficult.

Conference Room

Conference Room dimension 24' x 34'.

Seats up to 40 people.

$100 per day (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

Room divider, restrooms, heat and air, projector with screen, TV monitor with DVD player and dry erase board.

The Conference Room can only be reserved through the Park Office at 770-732-5871 or 770-732-5873 between the hours of 8 am - 5 pm 7 days a week.

Cancellations must be made 30 days in advance. A $10 cancellation-handling fee will be applied. A forfeit of deposit if cancellation made inside 30 days of arrival.

Picnic Shelters - All visitors are required to have a parkpass

Enclosed shelter. Shelter has restrooms, full kitchen, outside/inside grill, heat, and ceiling fans. No ac in shelter. Playground is outside shelter.

Open-sided covered shelter. All picnic shelters have a 50 person maximum; there is insufficient parking for more. Maximum Number of Vehicles: Shelters 1 & 2: 30-40 cars maximum. Shelters 3 & 4: 6 cars maximum. Shelters 5, 10, & 11: 20 cars maximum. Shelters 7 & 9: 15 cars maximum. Shelter 8: 9 cars maximum.

Reservations Cancellation Policy

Cancellation of a reservation must be made at least 3 days prior to the date of arrival in order to receive a refund. A $10 cancellation/handling fee per reservation will be charged. Changes in arrival date made less than 3 days prior to the scheduled arrival will constitute a cancellation and forfeit of the deposit. 7-14 day Cottage Reservation Guidelines: All cancellations received 30 days in advance will receive deposit refund minus the $10 cancellation fee per facility.

If a customer requests to cancel less then 30 days in advance but before 72 hours of arrival, the customer may request refund in witting to the site. If cottage is rebooked for the time period originally reserved, site will have Customer Service issue a full refund to the customer minus $10 cancellation fee. If reservation is cancelled within 72 hours of arrival date no refund of the one night deposit will be given. Deposits are required for all reservations. Credit card deposits are posted when the reservation is made.

Check-in - Check-in is between 1 pm and 10 pm and check-out is before 1 pm. Campers must register and present a reservation confirmation before setting up. If you do not arrive on the first night of your stay, you will be counted as a no-show, your reservation will be cancelled, and you will forfeit your deposit.

You may make one change without a charge, provided a 3-day notice is given. Additional changes will incur a $10 per reservation handling fee.
