Lake Oconee Recreation Area rests upon a 19000 square area lake. Boating, fishing, golf and various other activities are available on the lake. Lawrence Shoals Recreation Area fun activities includes boating, swimming, picnicking and camping are offered. It is on Lake Oconee. Lawrence Shoals hasfull-service campgrounds and day-use areas. It has a large picnic pavilion that may be reserved for groups of 30 or more. In addition, it has day-use picnic areas, equipped playgrounds, boat ramps and a beach including a beach house with bathrooms and dressing area. Open: Sun.-Thurs. 7a.m.-9p.m. Fri.-Sat. 7a.m.-10p.m. $3 parking fee. Call for camping fees. Amenities: Parking, Public Restrooms, Accessibility for mobility-impaired. Lawrence Shoals is located near Wallace Dam on the south part of the lake off of Georgia Highway 16. Oconee Springs Park offers trailer and tent camping sites, fee area, bathhouses with tiled showers, picnic tables, grills, pure tap water, garbage pickup, dump station for self-contained travel trailers, electricity, sewage in some campsites, beach with swimming area, boat dock (lighted at night), coin operated laundry, cable TV, camp store and excellent water quality. Rock Eagle 4-H Center is in 1,500 acres of forested land. Home of the largest residential Evirnomental Education Program in the nation, Rock Eagle 4-H Center can serve nearly any size group. Rock Eagle's facilities consist of temperature controlled cottages, a dining hall, indoor meeting area, open-air pavilions, a natural history museum, miles of trails and a living history site.
