Guided Kayak/Canoe Tours - 4/29/17 at 10-11am
Enjoy a one-hour guided tour around Lake Blackshear in kayaks, canoes or standup paddleboards. See wildlife and vegetation that thrives here such as waterfowl, alligators , birds, fish, turtles and more. Meet at the Visitors Center. Call to reserve your boat. Costs are $8 per person and $5 vehcile parking fee.

Twilight Paddle on Lake Blackshear - 4/29/17 at 7:30-9pm
Join a ranger-guided paddle as the sun sets over Lake Blackshear. Watch as the last light of day fades into the dark night, leaving only the twinkling light of stars and the moon to guide the way. Look for alligator eyes glowing from your flashlight, take in a full moon and enjoy a relaxing paddle on the lake. Costs are $10 per person and $5 parking fee. Country Swing Dance - 4/29/17 at 7-10pm
Texas Swing Fans, this dance is for you! Join us for a fun-filled night of all types of dancing and great music! Pull on your boots and get ready to kick up the dirt! Dance will be in the 52,000 square foot Quercus Rodeo Arena in Gay, Ga. Music will be provided by Swing South, Georgia's premier Texas Swing Band. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the J. Joel Edwards Public Library. Tickets are available at Library-Zebulon, A Novel Experience. Handicapped Accessible (Limited) event. Cost is $10 per person. Train Gang 5K and Fun Run - 5/6/17 at 7am-12noon

Pickers in the Park - 5/6/17 at 8am-4pm
Join us for the Outdoor Arts & Crafts, Yard Sale and Antique Festival. Featuring live local entertainment, gospel and country music, food vendors, kids play area, and custom cars. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music. This event will be held rain or shine. Handicapped Accessible event. Pets are welcome. Free admission and parking. Pine Mountain Trail Flower Hike - 5/6/17 at 10am-2:30pm
Bring your camera and wildflower guide for a walk through diverse habitats ending at the WJSP-TV tower. There will be transportation to get hikers back to their cars. Bring lunch and water. Kids to Parks Day at Chatt Bend - 5/6 - 5/7/17 at 10am-2:30pm
This day is packed full of fun and educational activities at the Visitors Center. Bring lunch, snacks, and water. Be prepared for the outdoors; bring bug spray, closed toe shoes, etc. Costs are $5 per person and $5 parking fee. Cotton Pickin' Fair - 5/6 - 5/7/17 at 81m-5pm
Over 350 artisans from across the United States are nestled in and around interesting farm buildings dating from 1891, providing an exciting range of art, antique, and craft exhibits. Patrons enjoy fine art, pottery, weaving, basket making, blacksmithing, sculpture, wood working, folk art, jewelry, furniture, and gourmet food. Musicians, puppeteers, folk dancers, and magicians entertain on a variety of rustic stages, at a tree-lined farmstead reminiscent of rural life a few generations ago. A grand variety of delicious southern food prepared on site benefits local nonprofit organizations and charities. Bring your appetite and join us for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Cotton Pickin' Fair. Festival guests also enjoy a complimentary shuttle from the Fair to our Historic circa 1840 Red Oak Covered Bridge. Admission cost is $5 to $8 per person. Shady Days in Gay Arts & Crafts Festival - 5/6 - 5/7/17 at 9am-5pm
Your eyes will be amazed as Shady Days in Gay hosts arts and crafts exhibitors from around the Southeast that display outstanding craftsmanship, skill, talent and vision. Bring your family and meander through town to find quality handcrafted items. Come hungry because there is always great country cooking in town. Homeschool In The Park Day: Fishing - 5/12/17 at 10-11:30am
Geared towards families who homeschool, this adventure includes a basic fish lab, fishing 101 on Lake Delanor, and a take-home craft. Bring your own pole and worms or reserve a pole ahead of time. We have some worms and limited loaner poles. Program will be cancelled if there is a threat of rain. Admission Fee is $5 for student age 4 and up. Extra adults are $5. Parents Free. Full Moon Flat Rock Hike - 5/12/17 at 8-9:30pm
This is an easy 1 mile hike at sunset around the unique flat rock trail. The granite outcropping area has a wide open area for viewing the moon rise. A telescope will be set for your use. Memorial Day Duckie Race - 5/27/17 at 2pm
We're kicking off summer at Chatt Bend with the 3rd annual Duckie Race. Check in at the visitors center for directions to the stream. Race starts at 2 p.m. Winners will receive a prize. Emancipation Proclamation Celebration - 5/27/17 at 10am-5pm
Each May, crowds flock to the streets of Thomaston to celebrate a small document that said a lot for the United States of America. Since the beginning of this great day (Emancipation Day), it has been annually observed by Upson County. Each year, beginning May 29, 1866, people of Upson and surrounding counties have converged on the town of Thomaston to celebrate the emancipation of the slaves. This is the oldest, continuously observed annual emancipation event in the United States. Free admission and parking.
