Swim in the historic pools built by President F.D. Roosevelt as a place for therapy. Normally kept empty for preservation, the shallow pools will be filled with naturally warm spring water. Kids Fish For Fun - 6/2/2012
The Warm Springs Regional Fisheries Center will host a Kids Fish for Fun Day every year at the Aquarium in Warm Springs. All children ages 3 to 12 years are eligible to participate in the event. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service along with Friends of Warm Springs National Fish Hatchery join forces to show residents why more and more families are participating in fishing. This popular event provides a chance for children to experience the natural world of the hatchery and the thrill of fishing. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who agrees to teach the child how to fish and not actively fish. All children must be registered to participate in fishing. Each child should bring their own pole, stringer, and bait (for catfish). For the event, each child will be allowed to keep five fish on their one stringer. The Bikefest is returning to Columbus and Muscogee County. Come and experience fall bicycling at its best in Columbus. The City of Columbus did a fantastic job in 2011 and is going all out to make sure the riders enjoy their visit again. There will be various mileage options available each day in addition to a Century Ride on Saturday. The terrain is gentle rolling hills. You can tent camp by the Chattahoochee River, indoor camp, or motel. Rest stops will be located along the route every 15-18 miles stocked with PowerAde, fruit, cookies, pbj sandwiches, etc. SAG support and technical support will also be available.
