Emancipation Proclamation Celebration - 5/27/17 at 10am-5pm
Each May, crowds flock to the streets of Thomaston to celebrate a small document that said a lot for the United States of America. Since the beginning of this great day (Emancipation Day), it has been annually observed by Upson County. Each year, beginning May 29, 1866, people of Upson and surrounding counties have converged on the town of Thomaston to celebrate the emancipation of the slaves. This is the oldest, continuously observed annual emancipation event in the United States. Free admission and parking. Memorial Day Duckie Race - 5/27/17 at 2pm
We're kicking off summer at Chatt Bend with the 3rd annual Duckie Race. Check in at the visitors center for directions to the stream. Race starts at 2 p.m. Winners will receive a prize. Memorial Day Weekend Water Inflatables - 5/27/17 at 10am-5pm
We will be offering an inflatable water slide and slip 'n'™ slide at the public beach area for visitors and guests. Armbands for all day play from 10-5 p.m. is $5 per child. Kool & the Gang - 5/28/17 at 7-11pm
Kool & The Gang has sold over 70 million albums worldwide and influenced the music of three generations. Memorial Day Celebration - 5/29/17 at 10am-5pm
Bring your family for a fun day of patriotic celebration to Senoia's 10th annual Memorial Day Remembrance & Festival. Entertainment begins the program at 10 a.m. There will be an assortment of antiques, crafts and food. Patriotic program begins at 12 noon. The parade featuring the 116th Army Band begins at 2 p.m. There will be a moment of silence at 3 p.m. and a mini concert by the band. End the day with a fireworks display at dark at Marimac Lakes. Alligator Day - 6/3/17 at 10am-3pm
Join us as we discover what mysterious animals lurk under the waters of the Chattahoochee River. There will be presentations, and crafts, and you will even get to meet a real baby alligator. Geology Hike - National Trails Day - 6/3/17 at 11am-12:30pm
Providence Canyon invites the public to join us as we take a hike through the canyons and learn about the geological formations and why the canyons are here!
