Annual Polar Bear Plunge awards for Most Money Raised, Most times jumped, Most Creative Costume, Funniest Costume, Oldest and Youngest Jumper. Chili Cook Off awards for Peoples Choice and Judges Best Chili. Vendors will be present for face painting, balloon animals, cake walk and so much more. Mountain Crossings' 2017 Thru Hiker Season Kick Off Party - 2/25/17 at 11am-6pm
Each year as thru hikers begin their northbound journeys to Maine, we host a party with live music, food, a gear raffle and gear demonstrations by outdoor product companies. This year's fun includes good ol' bluegrass pickin' from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. by Wyatt Espalin and Friends, a s'mores making station, hotdogs on the grill, face painting and a scavenger hunt for the kiddos and so much more! We will hold a gear raffle benefitting the A.T. History Project and disaster relief in Gatlinburg, TN. Gear will include anything from daypacks, hydropacks, clothing, water bottles, cookware and more. Raffle tickets are only $10 and can be purchased at Mountain Crossings, on the day of the event or by mailed checks. It is not necessary to be present to win, but you must retrieve your items from Mountain Crossings at a later time. This event is fun for the whole family. Lightwire Theater has become internationally recognized for their signature brand of electroluminescent artistry, poignant storytelling and music scores designed to evoke imagery. Join us for their rendition of "The Ugly Duckling," a classic story with an original and illuminated twist. A dazzling and high-tech production, the performance includes sets, costumes, puppets and props that light up in the dark through the innovative use electroluminescent (EL) wires. 28th Annual Trout Tournament - 3/25/17 at 6am-4pm
Fish the famous Chattahoochee River for your chance to catch tagged fish worth up to $500 in cash prizes! Register at the Festhalle (1074 Edelweiss Strasse, Helen, Georgia on March 24, between 4-7 p.m., or on Saturday from 6-9 a.m. The entry fee is $20, and open to all ages. Entry fee includes two raffle tickets for prizes along with a tournament t-shirt while supplies last. Georgia fishing license and trout stamp required.
