13th Annual Dahlonega Literary Festival - 3/26/17 at 10am-2:30pm
Sixteen premier writers from across the U.S., including mystery writer Rita Mae Brown and historical fiction writer Cassandra King, will be featured at the festival. Another 25 will be part of the Southern Regional Writers Room in the Dahlonega Community Center where attendees can meet and talk one-on-one with fiction and non-fiction authors. Northeast Georgia Concerts Presents - Route 66 - 3/30/17 at 7-9pm
A rip-roaring, pedal-to-the-medal road trip down memory lane featuring hits such as "Dead Man's Curve," "King of the Road," "Little Old Lady from Pasadena," "Six Days on the Road," "GTO," "Fun, Fun, Fun," "I Get Around" and, of course, "Route 66." Four snappy young pump jockeys take the audience to various stops along the historic "Mother Road" where a menagerie of characters sing and dance to timeless pop and country tunes. The '50s music in this show is energizing and fun for all ages. From the jazzy pop of Chicago, the two-stepping hoedown of Texas and the beach-bumming car jams of California - this show has it all. Georgia Mountain Storytelling Festival - 3/31 - 4/1/17 at 9am-9pm
Enjoy hearing some of the brightest stars in storytelling, including John McCutcheon, Carmen Deedy, Bil Lepp, Sheila Arnold Jones, and Lloyd Arneach. Listeners of all ages will learn about the rich cultural history of Appalachia through storytelling. Performances by our featured tellers will enrich and educate listeners, and workshops taught by our tellers will enable festival-goers to claim their own voices and become storytellers themselves. We'll also have special storytelling sessions just for children, free books for children, traditional Appalachian music, and crafts. Seating is limited. Cost is $20 per day or $35 for both days. Sweep The Hooch - 4/8/17 at 9am-12noon
Join us as we partner with Trout Unlimited, Chattahoochee Riverkeepers and the National Park Service for the seventh annual Sweep the Hooch. This massive cleanup extends all the way from the upper Chattahoochee to Chattahoochee Bend State Park. Space is limited, signup early. We will have volunteers walking the shoreline and paddling.
