July 4th Celebration - 7/4/15 at 8am-5pm
Celebrate July 4th at one of the nation's oldest state parks. We will start the day with a flag raising ceremony at 8 a.m. at the Visitors Center, followed by a day of games for the whole family. There will be a bicycle parade, pedal boat races, sandcastle competition, watermelon eating contest, sack races, egg toss and greased pole climbing. Handicapped Accessible event. Lake Nottely Boat Parade - 7/4/15 at 11am-12noon
The annual Independence Day Boat Parade on Lake Nottely is sure to delight young and old. Anyone with a boat is welcome to line up at Nottely Marina beginning at 11 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., the boats will pass in review. There is no charge and boats can be decorated in any theme. 4th of July Family Fun Day Celebration - 7/4/15 starts at 7:30am
Join us to celebrate Indepence Day. The day is filled with fun activities - a fun 5k and 10k race, a patriotic ceremony on the lawn of the Gold Museum, a watermelon cutting by The Dahlonega Nugget, a classic car show, and musicians filling the square with diverse sounds of bluegrass, folk and country music. The Independence Day Parade through the historic square begins around 5 p.m. and ends just in time to find a spot on the nearby drill field of the University of North Georgia to await the fireworks. Celebrate Braselton 4th of July Festival, Parade & Fireworks - 7/4/15 at 4-9pm
Enjoy booths and food trucks along with live entertainment on the stage throughout the day in the park. The Parade through Downtown begins at 6 p.m. on Hwy 53 at the Braselton Tech Center, traveling down Hwy 53, turning right onto Henry Street (WJPS), down Harrison Street past the park to Davis to Hwy 124 and ending at the Tech Center (Northeast Church). Braselton Park is located on Harrison Street – one block off of Hwy 53. The Fireworks begin after dark, and can be seen from several locations in Downtown Braselton. This summer, we will be having family fun days on the farm on Saturdays at 10am-6pm and Sundays at 1-6pm. Tightrope Lessons-"Get Outdoors" - 7/4 - 7/5 & 7/25/15 at 1-2:30pm
A .25-mile hike will take us to the site of Karl Wallenda's™ 1970 walk across the gorge on a tightrope. We will learn about the history of the tight rope walkers at Tallulah Gorge and teach the basics of walking on a slackline. Ages 8 and up. Reservations required, limit 20 spaces. Holiday Gorge Floor Hike - 7/4 - 7/6/15 at 10:30am-2:30pm
This is a strenuous trek, which include hiking down 531 stairs, a river crossing, jumping from rock to rock, and climbing boulders along the side of the river to Bridal Veil Falls where you can swim. The total miles is 3.5. Children must be 10 or older. No pets; wear appropriate footwear; bring food and water. Cost is $10 per person and $5 parking fee. Space is limited.
