Friday Night Concert Series - 8/29/14 at 7pm
The Union County Historical Society invites musicians to perform a free concert in the courtroom at the Old Courthouse. On most Fridays, every bench is taken, the balcony is filled to capacity, and people line the walls of the renovated courtroom to see the show. 5th Annual Crush Fest, A Harvest Celebration - 8/30/14 at 11am-7pm
Crush Fest is designed to be a fun and exciting event for all ages. Grape stomping a la Lucille Ball (the "I Love Lucy" show) highlights the day. Members of the Atlanta Pipe Band will enliven the festival with hourly appearances. Live music by great local groups will perform all day. Horse-drawn wagon tours of the vineyard and Yonah Mountain Vineyards wine tasting will be offered. Area restaurants will sell foods paired with Yonah Mountain Vineyards' wines. Tallulah Gorge Floor Hike - 8/30 & 8/31/14 at 10:30am-3pm
This is a strenuous hike with activities including hiking down 531 stairs, jumping from rock to rock on a river crossing, climbing over boulders, and over and under logs. The hike will go to Bridal Veil Falls where we will hang out for an hour and head out sliding rock trail, a very steep quarter mile trail. Mountain Heritage Festival - 8/30 - 8/31/14 at 9am-5pm
Celebrate Appalachian history and culture. Enjoy an open-air market with local handicrafts such as handmade brooms, candles, soaps, wood carvings, pottery, honey and garden products. Enjoy performances by bluegrass musicians, gospel groups and cloggers. Sample campfire cooking at the Civil War Camp and watch Native American demonstrations. Labor Day Weekend Sunset Tours - 8/30 - 8/31/14 at 6-8:30pm
See the zoo from a different perspective. Get a unique up-close-and-personal guided tour. Meet and greet with some of the zoo's baby exotic animals and animal ambassadors. Enjoy refreshments while watching the sunset, and get up close with even more animals. Don't forget your camera so you can take pictures with the baby animals! Space is limited. Help clean up the beautiful Chattahoochee River in Helen, Ga. Friends of Smithgall Woods, Chattahoocee River Keepers, and local Trout Unlimited Groups join in a statewide effort to clean up our waterways and protect critical habitats. Full Moon Paddle - 9/6 at 6:30-8:30pm & 9/7/14 at 7-9pm
Enjoy a paddle on Tallulah Lake under a full moon. Space is limited, so call and reserve your spot. Children must be 8 or older and no pets. The maximum number of people per canoe is two adults and one child. Children under 15 must have an adult in their canoe. Cost is $15 per person and $5 parking fee. Bucks Corn Maze - 9/6-9/7, 9/13-9/14, 9/20-9/21 & 9/27-9/28/14
Buck's Corn Maze is more than just a maze!!! It's GREAT family fun for all ages. The 12 acre maze is planted in a 20 acre field next to Cochran Creek with a beautiful view of the Appalachian Mountains. Come get "LOST" in the maze. As much fun as the maze is in the daytime, it is double the fun at night. Bring your Flashlight and test your skills in the dark. The maze is "Haunted" on Saturday nights in October. Come if you dare! Drinks & snacks are available or bring a picnic and spend the afternoon. Bucks Corn Maze is open only on weekends during September, 7 days a week during October and only the first weekend during November. Bucks Corn Maze - 10/1 - 10/31/14
Buck's Corn Maze is more than just a maze!!! It's GREAT family fun for all ages. The 12 acre maze is planted in a 20 acre field next to Cochran Creek with a beautiful view of the Appalachian Mountains. Come get "LOST" in the maze. As much fun as the maze is in the daytime, it is double the fun at night. Bring your Flashlight and test your skills in the dark. The maze is "Haunted" on Saturday nights in October. Come if you dare! Drinks & snacks are available or bring a picnic and spend the afternoon. Bucks Corn Maze is open only on weekends during September, 7 days a week during October and only the first weekend during November.
