Cornelia Historic Depot and Railroad Museum - It was first built by the Southern Railway soon after the town was founded. Burned in 1910 and replaced in 1914 this large passenger and freight station was once the home to two rail lines The Blue Ridge & Atlantic Railroad and The Georgia Air Line Railroad,now known as Norfolk Southern. This depot is the symbolic and historic heart of Cornelia and in fact the town's first boundaries were set at one half mile increments in all directions from the depot. Today this depot serves as a railroad museum filled with relics from the days when the railroad ruled. Call to schedule free tours. Open: Tues - Fri 9am to 3 pm. Crocker Pottery-Georgia Folk Pottery Center - True Georgia folk potters turn and burn their beautiful wares. See a continuous exhibit of pottery, including Meaders and others’ work. Elberton Granite Museum and Exhibit - In the three stories of self-guided exhibits are educational displays of antique granite-working tools used in the quarry, as well as other artifacts. Hart County Historical Museum is located in the Teasley-Holland House, and is an excellent source of county historical information. Helen Arts & Heritage Center - Local artist gallery, craft shop and history museum located in downtown Alpine Heritage. They have Freel events here. Hickory Flat Pottery - Stone ware plus porcelain, raku pottery, stained glass, copper art, woodware, fiber and jewerlry. In the Gallery connected to the studio you will find the work of over 20 artists including pottery, jewelry, glass, copper and metal art, fiber and wood. The Studio and Gallery are housed in the historic 112 year old Wikle homestead. Free admission and parking. Tours available. Mountain Life Museum is the site of the restored 1906 Grapelle Butt Mock House and the restored 1861 John Payne Cabin. The Mountain Marketplace Marketplace Heritage Festival is held Labor Day weekend and the Mountain Craft Store is in the 1906 house. Enjoy a self-guided tour here. Nora Mill Granary - This 1876 working mill is powered by the Chattahoochee River. It is restored and is operated by the Fain family with the original French burr stones. Open: Call for hours. Free admission and parking. Located in Helen, Georgia
