Lamar Dodd BuildingThe mission of the School of Art is to develop the creative and scholarly potential of its students, to support the faculty in its pursuit of excellence in teaching and research, and to serve the public and appropriate professional constituencies.

The Lamar Dodd School of Art is one of the largest university art programs in the nation. With over 1000 art majors, the faculty and staff are dedicated to providing the highest level of instruction in studio art, design, art education, and art history. The School attracts highly qualified and talented students who are seeking to study art at a major comprehensive university.

The faculty is made up of nationally recognized artists and scholars who promote a rigorous and lively creative atmosphere conducive to experimentation, innovation, scholarship and creative inquiry.
Today the School has more than 1000 art majors and the program is housed in 7 different buildings on campus. The school continues to thrive and expand. Plans are now underway for a new multi- million dollar art complex that will include state-of-the-art modern studios, lecture halls, galleries and a media center. It will be located next to the Georgia Museum of Art, the School of Music, and the Performing Arts Center and will house academic and studio programs.

Amenities: Public Restrooms, Accessibility for mobility-impaired and Party Facilities. Parking available at the Performing Arts PAC Deck, Lot E20.

Hours Open: The Lamar Dodd Galleries are open Monday through Friday 9 am - 5 pm. Closed on weekends and university holidays. Parking is across the street at the UGA East Campus parking lot. There is a $1 per hour parking fee. Free admission to gallery.
