Nestled in the foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains lies Lake Sidney Lanier, one of America’s favorite lakes. Over 7.5 million people a year visit Lanier. With over 692 miles of shoreline, the lake is well known for its aqua-blue colored water, spectacular scenery and many recreational activities.
 
Constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the 1950’s, Lake Lanier is a multi-purpose lake that provides for flood protection, power production, water supply, navigation, recreation and fish and wildlife management.  It has won the best operated lake of the year award in 1990, 1997 and 2002.

Lake Lanier Dam in Buford, GALake Sidney Lanier is well known for its recreational opportunities. The Corps operates 46 park areas around the lake providing, picnicking, campgrounds, boat launching ramps, swimming areas, group picnic shelters and hiking trails. Additional areas have been leased from the Corps and are operated as city and county parks as well as marinas. With over 690 miles of shoreline and over 100 small islands Lake Lanier is the perfect place to pursue your recreational adventure. Recreation includes fishing, camping, boating, picnicking, swimming or a variety of other activities.
 
Directions: From I-985/Buford Take GA Hwy 20 West, from GA 400/Cumming, take GA Hwy 20 East, to North on Suwanee Dam Road. Go 3 miles and go left on Buford Dam Road. The Visitor Center is one mile down on the right. Make reservations at 1-877-444-6777.

Directions: Take I-85 N to I-985 N, take Exit 8, turn left onto Hwy 347 / Friendship Rd, turn right onto McEver Rd, turn left on Gaines Ferry Rd, then right on Chestnut Ridge Rd and follow into the campground.

Directions:  Take Exit 24 off I-985, and turn left at end of ramp onto Jessee Jewell Pkwy. Travel to Limestone Pkwy (2nd stoplight) and turn right. Go to the end of Limestone Pkwy and turn right onto Clevleand Hwy. Park is located 1 mile from bridge on right at New Bridge Baptist Church. Follow signs.

Services and Amenities At The Park: This 136-acre park is one of the largest and scenic parks in Hall County, boasting the first Sprayground (water playground) for small children. This park offers a variety of outdoor activities for the entire family! Amenities include 2 softball Little League fields, concession stand, playground, 2 restroom buildings, 2 tennis courts, 25 picnic sites with grills, 2 picnic shelters with water and electricity, one-mile walking trail, and pets are allowed.

Services and Amenities At The Campground and Park: Outdoor lovers enjoy the 118-acre park, 40,000 square foot beach, Volleyball net near beach area, 63 campsites with electric and water hook-ups, Sewer pump out station for RV/campers boat ramp, area for group camping, 3 picnic shelters, 60 picnic sites with grills, Handicapped access picnic sites, 4 playgrounds, Horseshoes and horshoe pits that can be picked up at entrance gate , bathhouse with showers, 5 restroom/shower buildings, 24-hour live-in security.
