Center of the World Monument is a historic site/monument honors the location of the Cherokee Indian assembly ground. It was there that the Cherokees met to hold their tribal council. The area was inhabited by Native Americans until a treaty with the Cherokee Indians was signed. Hart County Recreation Department consists of 12+ acres of park facilities. Park facilities are open to the public and also available for rental for certain functions: contact HCRD for more information. Hart County Wildlife Management Area-GA DNR is 1,000 acres of Public Hunting, Primitive Camping, Bird Watching, Picnicking. Managed for quail, rabbits, doves, deer and wild turkeys. Hartwell Lake and Dam is one of the Southeast's largest lakes, Lake Hartwell covers 56,000 acres at normal pool (660 feet mean sea level) and offers a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities, including swimming, picnicking, camping, fishing and boating along its 962 miles of shore line. Enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Hartwell and the Savannah River from atop the dam. Open: 8:30 am-4 pm. Walkers Lake is 8 acres. Bait, tackle, picnic tables, fishing (catfish) and primitive camping.

Georgia River Recreation Area has a comfort station, camping, picnic area, fishing pier. Open Mar 1 - Nov 30.
Milltown Campground offers primitive camping, community water spigots, shower/restroom facilities, pay phone, boat ramp, playground and dump station. Open May 1 through early September.
Paynes Creek Campground - Located on the Tugaloo River arm of the Hartwell Lake in GA
Park Amenities: 44 camping sites with water and electric hook-ups (30-amp service). 37 of those sites are waterfront! Shower/restroom facilities dump station, playgrounds, swim beaches, pay phone and a boat ramp. Pets should remain leashed or penned at all times for your safety. Open May 1 - Sep 1.
Watsadler Campground has 51 single and double camping sites, all with electric (50-amp) & water hook ups, shower/restroom facilities, dump station, pay phone, playgrounds, and boat ramp and courtesy dock. Open year round. Located adjacent to the Hartwell Dam
Big Oaks Recreation Area has a launching ramp, comfort station, drinking water, picnic area, picnic shelter, playground facilities, handicapped accessible, courtesy dock ramp and security light.
Elrod Ferry Recreation Area has a launching ramp, comfort station, drinking water, picnic area, picnic shelter, swimming beach, playground, courtesy dock ramp and security light.
Gum Branch Access has a launching ramp, comfort station and courtesy dock.
Hartwell Group Area has a c omfort station, drinking water, dump station, picnic area, picnic shelter.
Long Point Recreation Area has a launching ramp, comfort station, picnic area, picnic shelter, playground, courtesy dock ramp and security light.
Mary Ann Branch Access has a launching ramp and comfort station.
