Bennett Park is Forsyth County's first county park. It is 30 acres in size. Central Park is an 85-acre sports complex providing a variety of recreational opportunities. It features a 1-acre playground facility with safe play structures for all ages. The park has 5-Youth Baseball-Softball Fields, 4 Adult Softball Fields, 3 Soccer Fields, 8 Tennis Courts, 27-Hole Disc Golf Course, Playground, Picnic Pavilion, Mountain Bike Trail & Recreation Center. The Recreation Center includes 2-Gymnasiums, Fitness Area, Mezzanine Walking Area, Arts & Crafts Room, Dance Room, Community-Meeting Rooms with a small Kitchen. Join the workout area! Fitness memberships are available for ages 16 and up. Recreation Center is Open: Mon - Thurs 7 am - 9 pm, Fri 7 am - 7 pm, Sat, 10 am - 6 pm, and Sunday, 2 - 6 pm.
Central Park Mountain Bike Trail Information Trail is 3.75 miles It has beginner, intermediate and advanced features. It opens at daylight and closes at 11 pm Trail Rules The trail is open for mountain biking only! No walking or running on trail. If found on foot, you will be asked to leave or receive a ticket. No helmet, no ride! There is only one access point for the trail and that is from the Kiosk area. Dogs are not permitted anywhere on the trail. Always be courteous when passing others. No unarthorized trail building on XC Trail or in Freeride Park Be courteous to disc golfers and yield to throwers. Donations are not required but are appreciated. Donations are given to the trail building volunteer group. Trail is closed during rain and 24 hours after rain. If in doubt all ways call ahead!

Charleston Park is a 154-acre park has 64 vehicle and 49 vehicle with trailer parking spots, three boat ramps, a courtesy dock and restroom facility. It is one of Forsyth County’s newest leased Parks from the Army Corps of Engineers. Poole's Mill Park is a one-of-kind passive park, It is 10 acres of property that showcases the unique Pooles' Mill Covered Bridge. Built in 1901, this covered bridge spans the shoals of Settendown Creek. This bridge is closed to automobile traffic but open for walking. There is a memorial garden near the pavilion that was built in memory of Charles Welch. The park, on the National Historic Registry, offers residents the opportunity to picnic, walk and reminisce about the history of a bygone era. This is a nature park with a natural walking trail, benches and large pavilion with restrooms. This park closes in the winter and re-opens in the spring. Sawnee Mountain Park is
44 acres. Sawnee Mountain Preserve has over 720 acres of scenic passive space. This natural recreational park is now open to the public and offers a variety of activites including hiking, rock climbing, rappeling, backpacking, environmental education and more. The new Sawnee Mountain Preserve Visitor Center was awarded "Outstanding New Development for 2008 by the Georgia Urban Forestry Council. This is not the Preserve's first award from GUFC - the Sawnee Mountain Preserve was awarded "Most Outstanding GreenSpace Plan" for 2005.
Amenities are: Indian Seats is a natural rock formation at the top of the trail system, these unusual boulders offer a beautiful setting for enjoying the views of the North Georgia Mountains. This is also a perfect location for family photographs, particularly during the fall leaf season.
Amphitheater is a 140 seat facility nestled into the natural landscape of Sawnee Mountain, this amphitheater was given to the citizens of Forsyth County by Northside Hospital-Forsyth. It is available for small group gatherings, lectures and outdoor classes. Call for info.
Playground is provided for the entertainment of our youngest visitors to the mountain. It is located adjacent to the picnic pavilions and offers another opportunity for families with small children to enjoy Sawnee Mountain.
Picnic Pavilions - There are 2 picnic pavilions available for public use on a first come first served basis unless a reservation is posted. To reserve a pavilion, please call between 8:30 am-5 pm, Mon - Fri. Fires, including grills and/or campfires are not allowed anywhere on the mountain.
Hiking Trails are for foot traffic only and are designed for all levels of hikers. There are more than 3 miles of trails and hikers can choose the more gentle Yucca Trail, the panoramic Indian Seats Trail or the challenging Laurel Trail. All trails connect and are part of the long range trail system planned for Sawnee Mountain.
Climbing Area - Climbing and rappelling is prohibited without a permit. Permits must be obtained at Central Park by calling between of 8:30 am - 5 pm, Mon - Friday. Fines for climbing without a permit may exceed $200.

Shady Grove Campground is open on the end of March through early November.
The campground has over 110 campsites. The campground features a beach and swim area, boat ramp with courtesy dock, group campsites with picnic shelters, playground, tent camping areas and campsites with water and 30 amp power hookups. Call for daily fees for use of the campground are as follows:

The Big Creek Greenway - This is a linear park. It is about conservation, recreation, environmental education and alternative transportation. Our greenway is an investment in the future of Forsyth County, a county with open green spaces for people as well as natural areas for plants and animals.
The Big Creek Greenway in Forsyth County is a 12-foot wide concrete and boardwalk path meandering through the deciduous woods along the Big Creek. The greenway offers an ideal setting for walking, jogging, biking and inline skating.
How long is the Big Creek Greenway?
Phases 1, 2 and 3 of the Big Creek Greenway in Forsyth County, from McFarland Parkway to Bethelview Road, are now open and span approximately 6.8 miles (click here to see a map of Phases 1, 2 and 3). The exact design and location of Phases 4 and 5 are currently being developed. When all five phases are completed, the greenway will span approximately 15 miles in Forsyth County.
Where can the Greenway be accessed?
A trail head access point at 5120 Bethelview Road offers limited parking and serves as an excellent place to begin your adventure. A temporary trail head is located at Exit 12, east of Highway 400 on McFarland Parkway and accommodates approximately 50 vehicles. These areas will be open from dawn to dusk. Nearby residents are encouraged to walk or cycle to these locations.

Greenway Safety and Etiquette:
The Big Creek Greenway will be a popular trail for citizens to walk, jog, bicycle and inline skate. With a diverse group sharing the greenway, please follow the safety and etiquette tips below for everyone’s use of the greenway to be enjoyable.
Safety Tips Use the trail only during daylight hours. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Stay on the trail surface. Stop, look and yield to traffic at crossings. Cyclists and skaters should wear helmets. Visitors are encouraged to use the buddy system and use the trail in pairs or groups.
Etiquette Tips Be courteous and respectful to other users. Respect the privacy of adjacent landowners. Travel in a consistent and predictable manner. Keep right as you use the trail. Pass on the left and give a courteous and audible signal of your intention to pass. Clean up your litter - help keep the trail clean for others.

Windermere Park is equipped with a dog park, large playing field, nature path, an eight foot concrete trail, picnic shelter, concession building and restrooms. The remaining portion of the land will be designated as permanently protected green space. This is an 87 acre passive park.
Windermere Dog Park Information and Regulations: The Dog Park is split into two areas. One area is for large dogs, 35 lbs or larger, and the
other area is for small dogs that are 35 lbs or less. Hours: Open 8:00am-sunset (unless otherwise posted) Owners must dispose of pet waste properly in the designated on-site containers All dogs entering have to be licensed and vaccinated All dogs must be leashed until safely inside and returned to a leash prior to exiting Dog owners must remain in fenced in area while their dogs are using the park Pet owners inside of off leash area must be 18 or older.
